Merged New video! Architects and Engineers - Solving the Mystery of Building 7

Why is it troofers have such a hard time grasping simple concepts?

WTC & was constructed with a rather conventional structural shell, on the other hand the guts of the building was a hodgepodge of oddly placed columns and transfer beams and girders because of the existing substation. The fact that the rather rigid exterior shell held together longer and more together than the interior framing is not a surprise whatsoever to those with the slightest knowledge of building structures.

Moment frame. Rigid.

Notice the evenness of the cuts of the steel columns. Go figure how that happened if they were damaged by tremendous weight from above.

Dude contrary to what DRG says they don't make one piece 1300 foot long columns, that's how they were designed and how the steel fabricator delivered them to the job site, in truck sized pieces. The columns broke at the weakest point, their connections.

Why don't you join the rationals and pester the truthies(c) instead.

As far as REAL experts are concerned, just how much of a "mystery" was the WTC7 collapse?

That's where the column splices were located. They're the weakest point of the column for all failure modes except compression*. If there were cuts there, we should expect to see some slag. But we don't. Also, notice the plates on the flanges of the columns. Those were used as part of the splice (though probably for construction forces only).

ETA: *Note - this is only true for construction of that time period in NYC. In regions of high seismicity, the column splice is designed to develop the full tensile strength of the column.

You don't know much about structural steel connections do you?

I thought this was of significant interest.

This is how Mark Loizeaux, President of Controlled Demolitions Inc., demolishes a highrise with a penthouse. In this case the penthouse is somewhat taller than the WTC7 east penthouse.

Seems to bear an amazing resemblance to the WTC7 initial collapse.

Go figure.

Not the least bit. Did you notice the explosive ejecta visible on the outside of the building below the roof line? No explosive ejecta were visible from any aspect of WTC7 prior to collapse of the penthouse.

I would also be willing to bet a considerable amount of money that there was an astoundingly loud noise as collapse was intiated in your example prior to collapse. There was none in WTC 7.

Got a more relevant comparison?

(I know. Silly question.)

Got the sound track for that?

Well it is a sound mix (includes Mark's voiceover), but since it is a classic controlled demolition with the windows removed, I don;t think a sound comparison would be that relevant.

The explosions in the mix are audible but not that loud. Being a mix though, it is impossible to say what the original recorded levels were.

The interesting thing is the descending penthouse, which completes its collapse into the main structure, before global collapse is initiated.

Okay, carry on rolling your eyes. Don't hurt yourself.

Gravity will do that.

I bet you would think it was relevant if you couldn't hear the charges, huh?

Don't let too much crap crawl into that "open mind".
