Continuation Part 3 - Discussion of the Amanda Knox case

Sherlock ( my first post here by the way )

Can you say why you think (75%) Amanda was involved in some way?

Is it the confession? I spent quite some time understanding that, but after checking I now find the confession easy to understand.

Or something else? I have to say I'm very firmly convinced of AK and RS complete innocence. What I struggle with is people who thing otherwise, because I cannot find any reasons why they might think this way. I really want to know.

Welcome to the forum, geebee2!

I want to know the same from SH. He seems to be throwing out speculation, rather than having a coherent narrative. When does he think Meredith died, on the basis of all the evidence? How does he think Knox and Sollecito got there and when, considering their alibi evidence?

I don't think it's very rational just to throw around wild ideas on the basis of a hunch they "know something". I think hunches like that are baseless.

Rolfe.

I didn't originally intend to be ambiguous - if anything I thought the kitty-avatar would suggest female. And in German, the -e is a feminine ending. I just used my late cat's name though.

Rolfe.

Actually in some parts of Germany Rolfe is a variant of Rolf, which is actually a shortened version of the male name Rudolf.

I admittedly thought Draca was male. Partly because of Stirling's "The Domination" series of novels and because it sounds rather Yugoslavian with a slight tendency towards a male to me. *shrug*

When I first started reading PMF I found I had an assumption that almost all of the posters were men. I thought the members posting on a hate site about Amanda Knox were probably guys. Sorry guys! :duck: Now I know at least half or more are gals! And some of the worst ones! I remember finding out Bard was a she and being surprised. I thought of Bard as being kind of a nice but not all that bright guy before that.

This was my first adventure into online forums and I was really surprised how hard it was to tell what sex the poster was. Here on JREF LondonJohn called me a he and I changed my avatar to Morticia Addams for a while to make it clear I was a she. Why do I even care? I don't know, but I know others feel the same way when people get it wrong. Machiavelli has clarified several times that they are a MAN. Even knowing that Rolfe is female I have a hard time thinking of them as female because their name is Rolfe. :p Mine is Draca ending in a feminine A not O! It was so offensive. Why doesn't my femininity come through as obvious in my posts?! Of course I spent a lot of time talking about bloody crime scene photos and analysis of how just how the murder happened without batting a lash, so maybe that was why?

I shouldn't have been surprised how many of the guilters (inappropriate labeling of complex individuals :D) are female. Every one knows women often use words to hurt. I was even a victim of the mean girls in school. I was surprised though. There are some posters I would be shocked by their writing to find out they are actually female - Kevin Lowe and Bruce Fisher for example seem very male in style imo. Rose seems very feminine to me, but rumor is that might not be so. That's the online world for ya.

Yes - for some reason I used to be flattered when a man would say, "Thanks , buddy" because of my Obama avatar! But I also assumed Skeptical Bystander and the Bard were males. And was disappointed that they were females. What does this say about me?:( I thought their sharp wit and quick minds marked them as male. Yikes.....I even gained more respect for Rose when Machiavelli said Rose was really a man. I better get into the 21st century...Of course I knew you were female, and respected you from the get go:D:p..But yes, females can be truly devious with words, and truly mean, such as at your school....:( And your intelligent femininity does indeed come through in your posts.:boxedin:

Pilot's friends do little to hide the fact that they are stalkers. Pilot's (stint's) cut and paste from JREF to PMF caused Peggy to expose her stalkerish behavior once again. It seems that they would now like to bring my mother into their conversation.

My personal life is no one's business but I will say that my mom is unfortunately disabled and currently lives in a facility that can properly care for her. Several of her contacts have my address listed for my mom because I take care of her affairs.

So it seems that Peggy's crack staff has invaded my mom's life to see that her mailing address links to me. Then they make the giant leap that I live with my mom.

The truth is that I would love it if my mom lived with us. I wish I had the resources to care for her in my home but unfortunately she requires more care than my wife and I can provide.

The other moderator Randy Jackson often pretends to stalk me, talking about what type of car I drive and what restaurants are near by my work. Their lawyer friend TomM has repeatedly mentioned that he has driven past my house to take pictures.

This is what PMF is all about.

You didn't need to explain about your poor mother Bruce. Nobody cares what PMF thinks or says about this. It is no ones business. It's a very sad part of American culture imo opinion that it would be considered strange to live with extended family anyway. She could have just been a widow who didn't want to live alone. Would it be so bad for her to live with her family who loves her? Really pathetic that they went there. Sorry again to hear about your mom.

I have also heard a PMFer say how he knows where AK lives and that she should be careful. Your stalkers and Amanda's should be reported to authorities just so they are on record. I'm sure they can be identified.

I agree fully. My husband died in 2006 and my son and I live with my mother because she wants to be with us, and we , with her. We are both widows now and need eachother. I am also sorry to hear about Bruce's mom, and it reflects poorly on PMF that they would stoop to such cheap and meaningless ad hominem attacks. Even if Bruce were in with his mother due to financial problems - as many families are sharing in these hard economic times - it would do nothing to diminish my opinion of his finely written book and his intelligence, which is obviously of a very high order.

Then I found people were taking me for male, and I thought this was a good thing. I don't care about femininity shining through. Mostly I try to word my posts to give no clue, especially if lots of people in a thread haven't figured. I think it's good to have one's viewpoints and arguments considered on their merits without any baggage about sex or age. It also means that mad homoeopaths may be less likely to figure out who I am.

I don't really need to know sex or age or racial group of anyone I'm talking to. Though nationality is very good to know for some discussions. I think being a disembodied intellect is a virtue of online discussion.

Rolfe.
Well said.

I like emoticons and always use them freely. Notwithstanding your taking offense: The post was not directed at you.:p

Sorry I thought my use of four emotions would make it clear I was just having fun.

Every site needs their own 411 :D

I don't think it is possible to be totally disembodied. I think the human mind will always assign a sex to a poster. People will decide you are male or female based on something or another. Even if your name was only a number - 9609606 - people would decide if you are male or female. Ambiguous might be possible if people are not SURE. I agree it is freeing to leave behind age, employment, all other things and be judged on what you think and write. In some ways you get to see the inner person more clearly online. Compared to casual acquaintances anyway. I can see how it could be fun to have people quess wrong and have their perceptions taken back at some point.

It wasn't much thought out. I always liked the name Draco from the Harry Potter series. Draca was just a feminine version of that name. If I knew how it would be perceived by some I probably would have chosen a different name.

Susan,

This post is a bit sad and disturbing to me. You're such a sharp woman, it is surprising to hear you say that you tend to think men are smarter. Is there a family history behind this? I think there was a male preference in my own family growing up. I think the females in this thread have thoroughly held their own! Very smart women I'm happy to have met. You were disappointed SB and Bard were female because of sharp wit? I would be disappointed because they are a shrew and a sheep. Why would you respect Rose more if they were a man? My own bias on PMF was assuming the posters were men because I mistakenly thought men would be more likely to be online bullies then women. :duck: It didn't have to do with their intelligence. I was wrong though.

Beautifully stated.

Yes, there is a family history: My father was a very brilliant man, but extremely chauvenistic. He was a Professor of philosophy, but also alcoholic and a tyrant. I both feared and identified with him - hence, the identifying my own intelligence as being "male". Ugh, what a sorry mess. Like those gays who are inwardly homophobic, or Jews who are anti-Semetic. Of course, all of this is on an emotional level; my intellect knows better. :( It is silly and left over from a kind of traumatic upbringing. Oy vey. :(

Yes, it is awful: I recall those types of threats posted on forums about Casey Anthony after she was freed. Even though I thought she was guilty, I still believed the court's ruling must be respected, and personal threats were not to be tolerated. But who will make these reports re Amanda? Can you email posts to the Seattle Sheriff's office? I was not aware that such threats had been made.

Rose, I like you for your mind, not your avatar. :)

Rose,

I love Milla and always will. I can never forget the first time I saw her with the orange hair...Who can look good with orange hair? Milla can.

Sorry, don’t know the Italian girl but I know she could never pull off orange hair.

I was raised by and in an era of chauvinistic pigs. And yet somehow I came away from that with the firm knowledge that if you want to raise the IQ level of the conversation and the group then there must be women in it.

In this venture of the study of a crime, I am amazed at the level of knowledge and organizational skills of certain individuals...I’m certain the male to female ratio is at least equal if not slightly tilted towards the feminine side of posters who I consider absolutely brilliant.

I could name off 10 from this site who I would absolutely want on my side if I were ever in trouble and I’m certain there would be a high or higher percentage of women in that group.

Unfortunately, my life is rather boring.

I do have this upcoming court hearing regarding my failure to obey an intermittent traffic signal which I plan to argue was obstructed during my passing and was the cause of my not pulling in to the road side check. The preliminary judge ...(who I found to be extremely prejudicial against my case) found me guilty even though the police officer was 20 minutes late for the hearing. And so I have appealed to full court to fight this injustice of a 200 dollar attack at my wallet and my 35 year unblemished driving record.

In this case against AK and RS there are some outstanding minds here who have weighed in and made perfect argument for innocence. Those arguing for guilt have not done so well and must be declared the losers in this case. Which is something given the huge advantage that guilt started out with.

Bravo...girls and boys!!!

You too Pat…
