Merged The Cain exposé / 4th woman jumps on the Cain train

First off, I am a lady. And why would you want to bury this thread in one that is titled "The Cain exposé: who leaked it to the press? "

The topic there was about who the leaker was, was it not? I could have searched and searched, and never found your little post, as it doesn't contain any of the words that would lead me to Allred, Press, Conference...you do understand how search function works right?

Unless reality has finally gone mad - a distinct possibility - then Romney has to be the nominee. This should be obvious at this point to even the most incompetent political wizard.
The Koch roaches can afford to build a new reality. Money can work no end of wonders in politics these days.

Sorry, I'm still distracted by the OP and the image of Sarah Palin "milking her rubes." Yowza.

Okay, I haven't really followed these scandals much at all. Do any of these claims appear to have any validity at all? The timing of these are, at least, suspicious. Of course, that doesn't mean the underlying accusations aren't true.

If true, Cain's chances of success now lies with how tolerant the GOP is for Presidents with a history of improper sexual relationships. Anyone know how they feel about that?

From what I have heard, it is the reason they don't want to support Gingrich, but then he actually cheated on his sick wife (that's against a rule in the bible) who was dying of cancer, so there is that.

Cain is playing the "they are only picking on me, because I am a black conservative" card, and is raking in the cash from the rubes, and they seem to like him even more because of it.

Doesn't matter. The fight is between Rove and the Koch roaches. Neither cares that much about morality.

(It was mostly a Clinton-based joke at the GOP's expense.)

Not quite correct. She was being treated for cancer, but not dying. As far as I know, she's still alive. Not that it makes it any less horrible. The other part of the story was that Gingrich was so chintzy that she had to get her church to pitch in to buy her food while she was recovering. No, Newt is not a very nice person.

There was one line I liked though (but I can't remember it exactly). Some of the religious wackos were giving Romney a hard time for being a Mormon because they allowed polygamy at one time. Romney replied (something like), "That was a long time ago. Besides, I'm the only male Republican candidate who's only had one wife."

She was not dying and did not have cancer, she had a benign tumor removed.

Interesting. Reading above, I thought someone mistook Gingrich for John Edwards, but I now see that Gingrich did this too something not quite as bad*. It's almost like people in both parties are human.

Tricky - that is an awesome line from Romney; I hadn't heard that one.

*on edit after reading Wildcat's post.

That's epic.

Depends heavily on their party affiliation.

You sure like to argue irrelevant details, but here you go.

Gingrich married his second wife, Marianne Ginther, months after he divorced Battley in 1981. According to Battley, Gingrich discussed divorce terms with her while she was in the hospital recovering from cancer surgery.

IMHO, when you go into the hospital and have CANCER, in your mind there is an overwhelming thought that you are going to die from it. When I was informed I had cancer, that was my first thought and it remains to this day.

So, his wife survived, it doesn't take away from the fact that he was cheating on her and discussed divorce in the hospital while she was recovering from CANCER surgery.

That depends. The first two we heard of were settled out of court, does the fact there was a settlement indicate validity?

Sexual harassment is different than improper sexual relationship. If the harassment did turn into a sexual relationship it could well be categorized as rape. If it did not then it’s still an abuse of power, possibly criminally so.

This in my mind makes this type of thing a far bigger issue that simply having an improper sexual relationship which merely implies the person has a different moral standard wrt sex. If you feel government has no business interfering in personal lives then this is irrelevant.

So Gloria Allred dragged a $100 bill through a trailer park?

I see that as a very misogynistic statement. Being sexually harassed by the director of one's workplace does not mean a woman is "trailer trash" or any of the other pejoratives that are normally used to belittle women who complain of that sort of abuse. The "trash" here is the jerk who thought that making women sexually uncomfortable in the workplace was a good policy.

Great line, except Cain, Santorum, Huntsman, Paul and Perry have only had one wife.

Look at the bright side, she no longer had to be married to Newt Gingrich.

Some, I guess. Plausible enough to get some money out of whatever happened.

If you feel government has no business interfering in personal lives then this is irrelevant.
I do and it is. In the first thread I saw on this topic, I stated that I have several reasons to not vote for Cain, but this isn't one of them.

I only asked this time because people seem to be giving weight to this story and I don't really know much about it. Wikipedia was brief about it, only mentioning two women and no details.

Great line, except Cain, Santorum, Huntsman, Paul and Perry have only had one wife.

Add Palin to this list and then it starts getting interesting.
