The Wicked Witch of the West and Obamacare

You know, it's almost refreshing to find someone with the viewpoint that one way to solve our country's problems is to ensure that people are less educated. I mean, really that's what Libertarians want, since mass stupidity helps them considerably, but it is rare to see someone come out and admit it openly.

Universal education in the USA causes mass stupidity as does 'No Child Left Behind."

Yeah, well you can be sure in a private hospital employees would be fired and lawsuits would be filed if patients died in the hall, uncared for . In a government hospital, with government care, I don't think so. I don't think you can sue the HHS, nor the Queen of England. Thus, you can expect the same "I don't give a ****" attitude in a government hospital as you expect from the Post office or the DMV.
You don't think a private hospital would try to cover up something?

Why can't you sue HHS? Why would you sue the Queen of England?

The post office will take a letter you write and deliver it 3000 miles away in a few days for $.44. That is pretty much the definition of a bargain. If they were allowed to run like a business they would make money, but that same letter would cost a lot more and there would be far fewer post offices. Post offices that the USPS wants to close but local politicians won't let them.

You know I hear people complain about the DMV all the time. You know what's wrong with the DMV? People can't/won't follow directions and then complain when they don't have what is required to transact their business. Then they take it out on the person behind the counter instead of taking responsible for their failure to read the directions.

The source of the funding has no bearing on the issue, the for profit colleges are opperated to maximise their profits. That is what capitalism is all about.

Furthermore, Pell grants and loans are not unique to for profit colleges. Students at public colleges receive them as well, therefore the comparison is still valid

Fiddlesticks.

Yet the NHS has rather high approval ratings. Huh? Thats odd. Because this would make it seem as though you have no clue what you are talking about.

Now watch carefully as I provide a source!

BOOM! SOURCE MAGIC!

You should try that sometime instead of just shouting and trying to sound tough.

Oh really? Where were you educated if you don't mind me asking?

I am a product of not only the US public schools but also of British subsidized university! I turned out alright.

^This! The number of rude and disrespectful people going into the DMV is insane. The other factor is that people refuse to acknowledge that driving is a privilege not a right.

When I go to the DMV I am always polite and respectful and I have nothing but nice things to say about my local DMV as a result.

Seems to me your own BBC source ratings average out to a grade C to grade D.

Well certainly the teaching of geography and statistics appears very poor in some areas, yes. And perhaps grammar too.

And math and science and history and especially Civics which is hardly even taught. But the USA is on top of the world in one category:

SELF-ESTEEM!

In other words our increasingly dumb students think they're SMART!!!

But they're just too dumb to know any better. Witness the Wall Street Occupiers.

But to be fair, one more "plus" would be a thorough understanding of the "virtues" of Marxism. Witness the government school graduates on this board.

It seems to me that averaging the data of three separate years would be a pretty dumb way of looking at a graph that shows not only approval but improvement in that approval rating.

Why do you think the data is shown as three separate points and not averaged?

Because you once again missed the point!!!

That letter delivered 3000 miles away costs somebody a lot more than 44 cents. It probably should cost more like 44 dollars. And that's what's wrong with the Post Office.

UK Man Collapses In Hospital And Dies After Nurses Ignore Him For 10 Hours

"When 41-year-old Peter Thompson arrived in a UK hospital after having a concoction of alcohol and drugs, it’s reasonable to expect that he would have been treated. He wasn’t. Instead, he collapsed on the floor, just 200 yards from the emergency center. And there he lay, for 10 hours, as nurses stepped around him dismissing him as a mere drunk. He died because of the inaction.

But adding to the horror is how Thompson’s body was treated after he died – he was dragged through the hall like “a dead animal,” his family said."

Did you even read the link before you posted it? Did you miss this part?

The hospital and the family have reached a settlement in the case.

And you would be wrong.

Lawsuits against the government and the Queen are definitely allowed.

In Canada you bring the action in the appropriate provincial court. Medical negligence cases are not unheard of.

Funny, I get good service at both Service Ontario and at the Post Office. My only objection is the amount of adverts the post office has to send out to keep postage rates low, I'd be willing to shell out a few more cents a letter to drop the amount of waste paper that comes to my mailbox.

Not free? Ever hear of Medicare? Medicaid? And who pays for all the illegal's health care??/ Guess?

Medicare is free? I guess I should get those payments back!

So, to get back to the original point, how is a system that isn't completely "free" more expensive than those that are completely free?

From Las Vegas Businessman Steve Wynn:

"I supported a Democratic Congresswoman named Shelley Berkley. I called her during Obamacare. I said, 'Shelly, what are you doing? How do you do this? This is killing unions and all of us supplying health care to our employees,'" Wynn recalled. "She said to me, quote, this is not hearsay — Shelly said to me — and she is running for the Senate — ‘Steve, I know it's terrible. My husband's a doctor, and he hates it, too. If I don't vote for it, she will punish me,' she being Nancy Pelosi."

My father was on the phone last night with Steve Wynn. He said it wasn't true.
