Continuation Part 3 - Discussion of the Amanda Knox case

Steve Moore has a new article up at his blog.

Excellent article, however it reminds me that it might have been a better idea to let Amanda be seen more after her return, I'm reading things about her hiding out for six months. I think the better option would have been to let her be seen, I think in the end she will be the best ambassador for her innocence.

In six months a line might be set and her 'guilt' made a political position, I read Bill O'Reilly and Nancy Grace have joined in, that shouldn't be allowed to happen. I suspect it would have been better to nip it in the bud, let people see her so they know what she's actually like.

The slander charge will be appealed won't it? So they probably wouldn't fork over money to the self-seeking Patrick Lumumba for a while. Frank Sfarzo suggests that the Supreme Court would do away with that charge.

Perugia Shock:
(The process will anyway be completed at the Supreme Court, which will sweep away that last absurd charge of slander).

I'm thinking that Amanda has a cause of action against both Patrick and his lawyer for what they said about her.

Didn't the court find her not guilty of being a witch?

I tend to agree with you. The main risk to Knox, should this or any of the other slander verdicts pass the Italian courts' muster, is that she would not only never be able to return to Italy (obviously), but I think she'd have to avoid the countries of the European Union altogether, since I believe they have laws for the reciprocal honoring of legal damages. Now, that may not be important to the large bloc of "Proud Americans," who see no reason to ever visit Europe because everything here in the U.S. of A. is better than everything over there :boggled:, but I get the feeling Amanda Knox would feel differently (especially if, as I recall was mentioned at one point or another, she was hoping to become a translator).

Italy won't in the union for long but they join in with the other warm countries in a new union. Greece, Portugal, Spain and Italy may soon be united.

Simple and perfect.
Now it shoud be made even more prefect by building in somehow that Raffaele claims not to have turned off his phone at all.

Sure, no problem, Bolint.
Raffaelle might not have turned his phone off. Maybe he switched it to silent. The only evidence he did switch it off (as far as I'm aware) is that the text from his dad, sent sometime after 11pm did not get 'picked' up by Raffalle's phone until 6am (ish).
However it's not that unusual to not receive SMS until hours later, even when the phone is turned on. Have you never experienced that? I know I have.

Ummm...I've been living in Seattle for the past 28 years, and the above is definitely not true. Many people have outfitted their homes with low-water-flow or even compostable toilets, but we flush just as much as anyone else!

Sorry but it is true. I'm not going to have a pissing match with you on this :D but I've been here well before 1983 and the yellow is mellow phrase was/is definitely part of life in Seattle particularly for teaching kids.

Why would someone turn their phones off to commit murder? I have never understood this connection if the better option was to leave them on at Raffaele's. This also implies premeditation, which requires a real motive. So in your mind Amanda planned this all out beforehand? Obviously it wasn't something spontaneous, so to what end did she deliberately go over there to murder Meredith?

Ewww! :boggled:

I guess it's nice living smack dab in the middle of the largest freshwater reserve in the world.

Personally, especially after seeing Amanda at the press conference, I think by far the best thing for both her and Raffaele would be to spend several months (at least) in private with close friends and family. It must be an absolutely overwhelming experience in any situation to come out of prison after four years, and to take a great deal of readjustment; I can't begin to imagine how much more difficult it would be in the face of massive media attention. I'm glad both families are doing the right thing for their kids and giving them some time and space to begin to recover.

Well, maybe she'll be kinda forgotten about and no one will be saying she tried to immediately 'cash in.' Then we get the movie! Who else plans on being there to nitpick the details to death with me? :p

Incidentally, I didn't see the press conference, does anyone have a link?

Amanda only speaks for about a minute starting at around 12 minutes in to the video.

Thank you Matthew. I tell you what, it still boggles my mind to think people thought her the 'cold and distant' type. I could tell she was a crier, it just seemed to fit with everything else. She's like the opposite of the 'Foxy Knoxy' construct in every way.

Raffaelle might not have turned his phone off. Maybe he switched it to silent.

Then it is still operating.
But he does not claim silencing it, either.

The only evidence he did switch it off (as far as I'm aware) is that the text from his dad, sent sometime after 11pm did not get 'picked' up by Raffalle's phone until 6am (ish).

If he did not switch it off then what is with your "perfectly reasonable" story of love-night, privacy and protection against Lumumba plus father?

However it's not that unusual to not receive SMS until hours later, even when the phone is turned on. Have you never experienced that? I know I have.

Probablity is 1/100 or 1/1000?

If the network is operating then delivery is immediate, unless the phone is inaccessible. There were no problems with the network that night so it is only the accessibility of the phone that counts.

On 48 Hours they said Raffaele is planning to visit around Christmas. That should get some publicity. I think Amanda will start giving interviews fairly soon. She seems like somebody who likes to stay active.

I agree.

They shlould not have been turned off before the murder and I don't think in premeditation, either.

I don't see even proven that her phone was switched off at all.
There is no other proof, only her claim.
But probably it was indeed switched off.

As for Raffaele, I think it was switched off later, after the murder.
Someone called him or her and that caused him (and her) to turn it off.

For example his father called him, he did not answer it but turned it off thus the SMS that followed could not be delivered.

I really like reading your posts but in this case I really dont understand one thing and this is the main reason i lean more towards the ones that think she is guilty.

You obviously have more experience and knowledge about this case than I have so just explain to me why was she lying and why did she change her story so drasticly.

She wasnt just lying she made up a story about how things happen. This is not just responding to a question in the wrong way because of the momentarily confusion. This is making up a story and you need to think before you do that.

Ok I know she is a young foreigner questioned about strangers and totally scared but I think that people dont make up stories in situations like that they just break down and become desperate.

So why did she make up a story like that, I have my theory but about that in later posts.

This is my first post so excuse my English, its not my native tongue.
