Continuation Part 3 - Discussion of the Amanda Knox case

For the prosecutor to urge the jury to convict on the grounds that the defendants will skip the country before the appeal they would pursue in that case is beyond ridiculous! What, there might be reasonable doubt about their guilt, but please convict anyway because we might have trouble getting them back for another appeal?

Is that what they're reduced to?

Rolfe.

Like a lot of other people I have trouble understanding Mignini too so I ran this through google translate.
The revised version read - :

'Sure, I know I've been a bit of a c*** around the Peruggian court scene for a while but noones perfect, and if you ask me I've always been a nice c*** with the powers the job involves.
Ask Steff.

If you let these two out of captivity you'll cause irreperable damage to myself, my reputation and career.

I think they've got something to do with the murder because there's the confession (from the interrogation we hide) that the girl gave.

So please jury and public...

Don't worry about them or their innocense.
Think about ME instead....

Let me give an extended version of one of the quotes, because the preceding sentence is helpful:
"“Moreover, because the majority of commercial kits have an optimal amount of input DNA of approximately 0.5-1.0 ng, the results of forensic analysis in theses conditions are below the threshold for reliable interpretation, and several precautions and issues have to be considered to carefully interpret such profiles. Thus in these conditions [less than 100 picograms of DNA] there is a greater probability of artefacts, partial profiles with fewer alleles, contamination, preferential allele amplification, the complete absence of one allele (allele drop-out) in heterozygous loci and the nonspecific generation of extra alleles (allele drop-in) [78,79]."

I think that the defense brought up some of these issues in cross-examination, but I don't have a good citation. I wish I understood Novelli's actions.

I wish that too. Why would he risk his academic reputation for this? :jaw-dropp

Here's one of the more despicable prosecution gambits today:

BBCDanielS Daniel Sandford
Mignini saying to jury that #amandaknox and Raffaele could not bear to look when pictures of Meredith Kercher dead were shown in court.

Of course, thus proving their guilt. Of course, if they had looked at the photos, they would be described as "cold-bloodedly" able to look at the victim, thus proving their guilt. Or, if they'd looked at them and had an emotional reaction, it would show that their consciences were plaguing them, thus proving their guilt. Or...

Mignini, Pacelli, Maresca.
All. lying. misogynistic. scum.

Saying that Amanda knew that Meredith had sex with a 'man of colour', and that this was why she accused Patrick, out of some kind of racism.
Saying that she has used the media (PR Supertanker) to manipulate the public.

All they're doing is literally taking their own moral and legal failings and re-framing them as Amanda's failings.
THEY (police / prosecution) were the ones who suspected Patrick, and the racial abuse of Patrick as he was taken into custody lends credence to the idea that they suspected him because he was black.
THEY used a credulous and dishonest media to spread lies, misinformation about Amanda Knox in order to smear her and contaminate the jury. The media has only 'turned' since the appeal started.

Lying liars. Morally corrupt. Supersticious throwbacks. Fools.

I've noticed earlier posts about Patrick being paid by magazines.

I can't believe that the all too obvious 'he's really being funded by the cops' scenario hasn't been spat out and agreed upon, as they are the ones behind the case he illogically promotes and protects.
Who else gains from his weird presence and strange utterances ?

They probably supply him with the magaizine intros and, knowing what cops are like, I would imagine that the 'beneath the table backhanders' could very likely be in the form of a regular supply of the drugs they confiscate, with immunity to supply.
That sounds like the cops I've seen...

Maresca reminding jury they heard #rudyguede as a witness and he told them that #amandaknox and #sollecito were with him.

Yes, Guede is a pillar of truth....

Rudy left his spoor all over Meredith's body and environment, and even Stefanoni wasn't so incompetent as to miss it. They'd have got him, quite easily, and with very little fuss if only someone hadn't indulged in some absolutely tragic gun-jumping in the mean time. Which makes me think maybe this was his first murder, as his DNA doesn't seem to have been linked to any others.

Rolfe.

Interesting. Guede's innocent of other murders by reason of his incompetence in this murder.

Where did he come from, the Ivory Coast? I wonder if there are unsolved murders back home. Was he too young to have murdered before moving to Perugia?

Amanda can only escape. She can't win - at least not in the appeal. The perception that a court can deliver 'justice' will win. Governments around the world will win by finding Amanda not guilty. The perception that world justice is not always completely incompetent will win.

Sfarzo's impression in 2009

Frank Sfarzo wrote of Amanda Knox in 2009, “If she smiles it's wrong, if she cries it's wrong, if she moves it's wrong, if she's still it's wrong, if she watches it's wrong, if she doesn't watch it's wrong." I quoted this passage here.

There is everything in this amazing finish.
Theatre, accusations, henfight...
And Ghirga's weeping is still to come...

Over at PMF someone again said that Amanda was into "sex, drugs and alcohol". What?

Not a big deal in either case, really, but why aren't we hearing about how Meredith was into sex, drugs and alcohol?

Rolfe.

The Holy Grail in this case. Sadly the ritual sex game gone bad theory of Mig and the resultant attacks on Amanda's character have begged to look at the others. Meredith by accounts was very much like Amanda.

As for the media, if one Googles - "Foxy Knoxy" Amanda - there are over 250,000 hits. I'd say they did enough for the prosecution.

I thought ground had been lost, but Donati (aka the rotweiller) is doing well.

How could Meredith have had DNA from SO many men? Had to be contamination. This point's been made many times, but she managed to hang it on Meredith's halo.

2 things:
Donati says Kercher DID hv wounds on hands. Cd not hv bn held by 2 ppl as claimed by prosecution. Key point.
Wow! Donati clearly implied police planted bra clip w/ Sollecito's DNA. Sd found day after doubts abt his guilt aired on TV

UPDATE: Now, the defense gets its rebuttals. Strangely, Sollecito's is being delivered by his assistant attorney, as Bongiorno has to serve in parliament today. (What, they can delay the proceedings so the Kerchers can get there, but not so one of the defendant's lead attorneys is available?) Anyway, look for the guilters to herald Bongiorno's absence as proof that the defense has "thrown in the towel" and now accept a guilty verdict is inevitable.

Actually, Bongiorno was in court today, not sure though how long.

Yep, that was bold. And truthful.

I only hope it won't spark retribution.

I guess you prefer the "witch" talk, references to the vibrator, and showing Meredith's body while the press is present.

Oh, and the important point that Amanda might leave the country if found not guilty. I wonder which portion of the words "not guilty" Mignini does not understand.

Or maybe the part where Comodi said, in court, that Italy does not have an extradition treaty with the U.S. (not only false, but blatantly false).

A little crying would be welcome after that.

#Sollecito attny Donati is closing convincingly in #amandaknox case, saying defense sought out the truth when prosecution should have.

I about spit out my coffee... she actually said something positive for the defense?
She liked the pitbull approach, she probably wont care for Girgha's "family poppa luv" approach. The cuddly poppa innocent role. He even wants to be friends with the prosecution when its all over....he has to live with them later, which would be hard to comprehend being able to do after this trial.

polarized in perugia

The prosecution says that Amanda AND Rafaelle killed for no reason.

No reason, no motive.
No evidence.
No witness.

And they've already convicted someone with the profile of a serial killer (Guede) for the crime!

As they say in Spanish: 'Basta!' (enough)
