Continuation Part 3 - Discussion of the Amanda Knox case

Does anyone have a link to the lies told by Prosecution and Police and leaked to the press?

I can list a few.

1. The police reported they had a clear video image of Amanda going to the cottage on the night of the murder.

2. The claim that Amanda called Rudy around the time the body was discovered.

3. The release of the bloody bathroom photo.

4. A false claim that receipts were found proving that bleach was purchased on Nov. 2.

5. Reports that the cottage had been cleaned with bleach and the washing machine was spinning when the police arrived.

The story that Amanda brought a lot of strange men back to the cottage seems to be a lie as well.

Amanda, smoked a bit of dope, drank a bit, and took a nerdy virgin as a boyfriend.
Meredith, smoked a bit of dope, drank a bit, and took a rather creepy guy who was dealing pot as a boyfriend.

If matters had played out rather differently and it had been Amanda who had surprised Rudy and been murdered, and Meredith who had come home to find things a bit "not right" in the cottage, we could just as easily be hearing all about how Meredith was the witch of deception who murdered her room-mate, and Amanda was the saintly, pure and virtuous girl whose promising life had been cut short.

Rolfe.

6. They reported that Amanda's sweatshirt was missing ("she burned it"), this was evidence in pretrial used to uphold the detention ( it's in the supreme court's ruling). Yet in police photos it's in clear view on Amanda's bed.

7. Harry Potter that Amanda read at Raffaele's. They said the book was at the cottage instead and she lied, but the police video from Raffaele's flat clearly shows the book.

Thanks, Kestrel.
I wrote a post over at the Mail Online (having anything to do with the Daily Mail makes me feel dirty, though, ugh) and linked to the IIP list.

The claim that Knox's clothes were missing (they were right on her bed), and the claim that the Harry Potter book was only at the girls' flat (there was a second copy at Raffaele's flat) are two more that come to mind. The claim that the police arrived before the call to the Carabinieri is another.

Thanks, Kestrel.

The really big lie:

They didn't coerce the Patrick story out of her and the all the false reasons it supposedly wasn't recorded.

Basically everything they said about the interrogation.

ETA: The postal cop saying he didn't enter room.

They were surprised by the police while standing with a mop and bucket.

I am not sure that the police are responsible for it, but there was a claim that they both turned off their cell phones at the same time, and then turned them back on together the next morning. It is mentioned in Darkness Descending, not the most reliable of sources.

I guess I'll say that that pretty much burned up my last shred of sympathy for Lumumba. It's time to man up and get over it.

It is tedious to keep hearing from the PGP that this is a battle between the Knox/Mellas and the Kerchers. It is a battle to find the best verdict the system allows.

Perhaps, very early on there was a sliver of a moment when Edda could have said something to the Kerchers directly about how sad it was that their daughter had been murdered, but being that Amanda was already in jail it would have been really delicate.

Edda has not demonstrated the ability to communicate in such a manner.

At this time in a trial it is about the people being tried for the crime. It is disingenuous to say the defendants are causing the world to forget Meredith. The ongoing trial keeps Meredith's memory alive. This is more about the fact that Amanda and Raffaele are famous and talked about all the time, not that Meredith isn't.

It is the way of the world that preceded this case and will be true in the future. Anybody know who Harris and Klebold killed?

When the Kerchers ask what happened to all the other evidence, I wonder if they meant the pathology reports of the death of Meredith or the footprints, phone records etc.?

No matter how Meredith was killed it was horrible. It is probably worse if it was a roommate rather than someone introduced to you by your boyfriend, but really just horrible either way.
