How do truthers explain the phone calls?

Nope I distinctly said what I thought was and was not accurate about that video the first time I posted it here. I even said what I thought were differences between what the author said was being said at the end, and what I thought was being said. I wasn't just reading what he wrote.

Then I must have missed it. Sorry bout that.

Still I have no idea where you're getting a man's voice from. Nor the "testing" you mentioned. Nor the creepy or suspicious. That's one thing, but...

El gave you a well informed explanation of what you were hearing & you just insisted he was ill informed, & when it was shown YOU were the one who was ill informed you just hand wave it away then have the nerve sneer about "dogma".... Just wow...

That's where your wrong. That call is all the evidence I need. Anybody with an open mind, can listen to it, and be suspicious. Nothing you can say bout distortion or echo can change that. You want to know why? Talking on the phone is something we all have done before many times, and we know that what you hear on that call doesn't sound like anything we've heard before. That's something you can never overcome.

O... M... FSM! He is talking about a specific KIND of phone! The airfone! He even explained why those artifacts occur! You just hate that you're wrong about this don.... LOL! You accuse us of adhering to dogma! Comedy gold!

The Inventor of Voice Morphing Technology on 9/11 Calls

Having seen the voice morphing technology in action (and a fairly primitive version at that) I don't think it's beyond the bounds of possibility that a lapdog could speak into a phone and have the voice of a passenger come out the other end. They would need a powerful computer and a lot of voice samples. They might even make little mistakes like accidentally giving their full name to a close loved one. Remember the passenger on flight 93 ? 'Hi Mom, it's Mark Bingham here'

It could go a bit like this. Lapdog: Okay who's next on the list then ? Um....Mark Bingham. (punches number) Ring ring.ring ring..."Hello''....'Hi Mom, it's Mark Bingham here'.. Get the point ?

Dr George Papcun, the inventor of Voice Morphing technology, presented the following summary of his thoughts on the 9/11 calls and if they were "morphed":

Following please find an amended version of my commenary on Voice Morphing and the alleged 911 conspiracy. You may post it with attribution, cleaning up the html as needed.

Sincerely,
George Papcun, Ph.D.

Purveyors of conspiracy theories have claimed that the events of 9/11 were the result of a massive government plot and cover-up. (See, for example, www.loosechange911.com) According to their version of events, there were no hijackers. Instead, the World Trade Center buildings were blown up by explosives planted inside the buildings rather than, or at least in addition to, the effects of the passenger airplanes crashing into them. They claim that the government (or the CIA or someone other than Osama bin Laden and the hijackers) was behind 9/11.

However, a major problem for their allegation, given that they claim there were no hijackers, is that the passengers on United Flight 93 that crashed in Pennsylvania called home with desperate messages to loved ones, in which they said there were hijackers. Accordingly, the conspiracy theory purveyors have needed to claim that someone (namely, me) created the voices of the passengers in those phone calls. That allegation is plainly outrageous and demeaning to the memories of those courageous passengers.

I originally developed the technology of voice morphing, the technology by which it is possible to make someone seem to say something they did not say (see www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/national/dotmil/arkin020199.htm ) and coined the phrase. Therefore, I know what would have been required to create such bogus calls. Practical considerations preclude making counterfeit telephone calls in this situation. For example, it is necessary to have samples of the voices of the people to be imitated. In situations like this, where the goal is to participate in an unconstrained conversation, the voice sample must be extensive. I cannot imagine how I might have obtained extensive samples of the voices of the passengers on Flight 93, especially not knowing which of them would call home. Additionally, in this situation it would be necessary to know what someone would say to his or her loved ones under such circumstances. What pet names would be used? What references would be made to children and other loved ones? Do believers actually suppose that the government (or I) listens in to everyone’s pillow talk? In a separate essay, I will cover the technical aspects of voice morphing, which will further demonstrate the implausibility of the scenario set forth by the purveyors of conspiracy theories.

Whether such wild-eyed theories are worth being concerned about is problematic. However, in their own words, their conspiracy theory organization “has grown from a cult following to a grassroots organism that can no longer be contained” (op cit). I have received email from a high school social studies teacher who told me that her students actually believe that I did everything the purveyors of conspiracy theories say I did. Why they would so mistrust their government and be so naïve with regard to technical issues are interesting questions, albeit matters well beyond the scope of this essay.

I've told you it makes no difference to me if the call was from a cell phone or airphone. Make sure you watch the whole video. He plays it once, as it is originally, and than again enhanced and looped. El didn't inform me of anything, he's only interested in protecting his dogma. If you are really interested in learning I would suggest going to CT sites as well. I'm not saying not to go here as well, but try to learn as much as you can from everywhere. And try, just try to take CT sites seriously. I know we all have confirmation bias. Meaning if the side we believe in says something we believe it, the other side we don't. I'm guilty of it from time to time, but I try my absolute best, to objectively look at everything. Most of the posters here take it to absolute extremes, anything NIST says is right be default, anything a "truther" says is wrong by default.

I'll add it's not just the man's voice and the creepy voices when she's trying to hang up. It's that she sounds like she's reading from a script as well. Compare this to the calls made by those in the towers, that were in the same life or death situation.

On what basis do you figure she's reading from a script? Before you answer that, know that I'm an actor with an MFA & I teach acting when I can.

I said sounds like. I told you compare that to the calls from the towers. Here are two, in one video. I really don't even like listening to them. Keep in mind she says on the machine she already knew planes were crashed into the towers. So she would have had a good idea of what may be about to happen.

The only person I see protecting dogma here is you. You know why? Because you're assuming that I haven't watched/listened to the video or that I haven't looked at truther sites. Also, you're hand waving a clear concise explanation even though you aren't familiar with the equipment being used. Think about that.

I'm not familiar with a phone? I didn't mean to imply you have never looked at CT sites, I'm saying go to them and be a little more open minded. There's so much out there.

I know you said "sounds like". What do you base it on? The people in the towers? Why should she sound like them? She was trained in crisis management as an FA, not to mention she was a cop before then. Add to that, the fact that some people are simply calmer than others &... well, you're defending that dogma again.

I have no dogma to defend. I only seek the truth. You can rationalize anything. I know I use to do it too. But there came a point, where I said you know enough is enough. Every time you turn a corner there's something that doesn't make any sense about the official story, and this call is one of them. Anyone is free to believe what they want, but most of the people here just adhere to their dogma, and nothing will change them from that.

Nice dodge.

Oh I know, (well, I didn't know, it just sounded like the "white noise" stuff that ghost hunters use as evidence of a haunting) I was just wondering why he went straight to suspicious & creepy.

Eta: Ohhhhhh! NOW I see where he got suspicious & creepy! See, the first couple of times I listened to the vid, I just listened! I just played it again & I watched too! How helpful of the truther who uploaded it to tell you what was "really" going on!

Sweet baby blue Jesus in a jeep! Her breaking down is a man's voice!?!? REALLY!?!?

Yeah its the same trick they play on the "building seven is exploding" youtube lie. You read as you listen and you hear what you read. Add in a dose of confirmation bias and he probably really believes it is a man:rolleyes:

So you believe it actually was CeeCee Lyles reading from a script, maybe at gunpoint, and then later she was killed?

No, that it could be someone else using voice morphing technology. It may seem like science fiction but it's not the technology is there. That tape is very creepy.

It could be little green men from Mars. You don't have any proof that it isn't. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
