Palin had side order of Rice before marriage

Your post is the first and only place I've seen this story connected to a racial angle. Who is this "they" that are that are hoping for tea partiers to get upset?

Really? Did you not read the link from the OP?

Enquirer said:
In the book, which will be published on September 20th, McGinniss claims Sarah had a steamy interracial hookup with basketball stud Glen Rice less than a year before she eloped with her husband Todd.
...
A publishing source told The ENQUIRER that McGinniss claims Sarah had a "fetish" for black men at the time

Is having a one night stand the same as learning about birth control and condoms?

On what basis do you conclude that she didn't learn that elsewhere? You're making unfounded speculation.

She has clearly said she's in fair of abstinence until marriage.

And I'm in favor of being a nice person. Yet sometimes I'm a jerk. So what? The fact that we don't always live up to our ideals is just part of human nature. Unless you have a pretty low bar for your ideals.

The hypocrisy I think is from those who think Clinton's extra-marital consensual sex was grounds for investigation and eventually impeachment

Everyone I know of who advocated impeachment did so because Clinton committed a crime by lying under oath. Agree or disagree with that decision, but pretending it was only about sex is really just a strawman.

yet Palin's is no big deal and that her privacy should be respected.

Big surprise: she didn't commit any crime in relationship to this event, it happened before she was in office, and nobody seems to have been hurt by it. So why, pray tell, do you think it ISN'T a matter of personal privacy which should be respected? Or do you think this is justified as some sort of revenge for the Clinton impeachment? Please, I'd love to know your rationale here.

Kind of proves the extent of racial prejudice and bigotry on the far LEFT, to even dream that an interracial affair on the part of a right wing political figure would be "a scandal".

That's pretty much a straight out definition of racial prejudice.

Weird.

Perhaps you should read the original article linked and try and work out what the words "steamy interracial hookup" mean, or ask Jo McGinness why he used the words "fetish for black men"

Nonsense. I'm pointing out that she had pre-marital sex which goes against the teaching of the abstinence until marriage programs that she endorses.

Rubbish. If there wasn't widespread outrage about the sex and the high-pressure investigations about the sex, there would have been no testimony under oath. Pretending that it was all about lying under oath is intellectually dishonest.

My rationale is merely pointing out the hypocrisy of people's reaction to one extra-marital consensual sex act and compared to their reaction to another.

I certainly don't claim she should be investigated and made to testify under oath about this matter. That would be the two wrongs make a right fallacy. I'm merely pointing out the inconsistency in reactions to this.

BTW, Trudeau has been highlighting several interesting tidbits from the book in his Doonesbury strip lately. For the most part, it's just the personal opinions of people around Palin at various times painting a very unflattering image of her. In today's strip, McGinniss quotes someone saying Palin "didn't really give a **** about her job" as governor and that she once said that she'd wear her biggest push-up bra to a meeting to insure she'd get her way.

And you don't think it would reduce your ability to preach to others about how important it is to be nice if it came out that you yourself weren't a nice person? You don't think it'd hurt your credibility on the matter?

And this whole business of abstinence until marriage is somewhat different than being nice. It really depends on the person not having sex at all--not even once--before marriage. You could still be considered a nice person even if you've had occasional lapses. You cannot still be considered abstinent if you've had sex even one time.

Where was that claim made?

Double who cares, and jeezzee... You're making me agree with Ziggurat and Brainster.

That's what I felt when allegations of Clinton having consensual extra marital sex were being made. And that's rather my point. "Who cares?" is the proper attitude, but there's something wrong when whether or not one cares seems dependent on political affiliation.

It is possible that the inconsistency in the reactions between the Clinton and the Palin sexcapades exists because, well the two events are not consistent. The Palin event happened when she was young and single and had no ability to coerce the beneficiary. The Clinton event occured when he was the President, happened to a subordinate, he committed perjury to cover it up, etc. Of course, it is also likely that some of the folks poo-pooing this current event are only doing so because Palin is one of "theirs".

I consider the Clinton affair to have been mildly embarrasing for his conduct and majorly embarrasing for the Republican reaction to his conduct. I don't think it necessarily hypocritical to perceive a relative difference between that indescretion and the Palin non-indescretion. She's an idiot, a hypocrit, and a user/loser - but she did nothing even slightly inappropriate in this instance.

Kind of chuckled at Doug Power's comment about Sarah Palin, the press, and the tea party being racist.

"Joe McGinniss Book About Sarah Palin Pretty Much What You’d Expect"

http://dougpowers.com/2011/09/14/joe-mcginniss-palin/

snippet:

We’ve spent the last few years hearing that Palin, as a “Tea Party” type, is a life-long racist — and now she’s always had a fetish for black men?
It sounds as if McGinniss has had to go back 25 years for his “salacious gossip” stories –. old “news” is much harder to confirm that new “news” — not that the AP will assign an army of fact checkers to this book.

I think the reason is obvious, these types of charged phrases might be thought to help sell his book. He's a racially prejudiced bigot trying to play the race card to a 2012 audience.

It's 2012. I predict book sales drop like a lead balloon.

:)

Same as my feeling but thats not how I felt about his lying under oath in a sexual harrasment suit.

I hate to break it to Doug Powers, but having sex with a black person doesn't necessarily exonerate someone from being a racist.
Of course!!!! Expecially in the absence of any evidence of racism by said individual!!!

When you stop beating your wife, let us know.:)
