Assaulting Personal Liberty in San Francisco

I'm cool with other people's nudity (as opposed to my own) but I can understand why people would have a problem with seeing nude people in eateries. Still, in the interest of freedom and noncormity, I'm going to take the nudists' side here. As long as they're not dangling anything in my food, of course.

Never mind the moist behinds on the seat I will soon sit on. Human behinds leak.

Leather?

Think of the sound of a fat fart against a sweaty plastic seat. Then, folks, think of the children.

Think of the children indeed. A crowd of naked rumps accidentally blowing wind at little heads at rump hight in a bus. "Sorry, I didn't see you down there..."

I run into this in the YMCA's locker room, there isn't so much as room to turn around when they have 40 kindergartners in there milling around like a litter of lost puppies.:crowded:

Some do; certainly not all and it usually indicates something that could stand medical attenition. Should we legislate underwear too? Maybe 3 layers for human behinds that have been inspected (this should be required, right?) and found to be particularly foul...

Besides, I already conceded that the towel requirement is probably a good idea.

I've got issues with laws against public nudity. It's a tough sell getting rid of them (and I'll likely choose to continue wearing shirts, shoes, and pants regardless; I'm a product of my environment and upbringing as much as anyone) but I don't think there's particularly good logic behind them, outside perhaps of facilities that prepare and serve food.

I still want it to be illegal to for someone to flash a playground full of kids. I regularly swim nude but I'd never want anyone to see me without my clothes on and be surprised by it. The way Germany sets aside lots of places for it seems to be the right balance to me.

Well, to be fair, there are a lot more reasons to enforce some minimal clothing standard than simple prudery. Imagine you have children, a young daughter perhaps? How would you like if every homeless perv on the planet could walk by anytime the wanted, flashing her the high hard one?

What happens when a child sees a naked human other than their family or self?

It would depend on the situation; meanwhile :

Not even a slippery slope argument

Not if they sit on a towel, at least.

It seems odd that you're saying "Won't someone please think of the children", while simultaneously worrying that that's exactly what someone might do.

I'd have trouble articulating exactly why, but I don't consider it appropriate to be nude in public.

Nude in front of others that desire nudity, good.
Nude on private property, good.
Nude on a public street, not good.

I'd suggest that you're having a hard time because it's just one of those generally accepted social conventions.

Interestingly enough, this doesn't provoke any reaction in me, even intentionally loaded as it is. If the "homeless perv," who would probably be indistinguishable from anyone else in their nude state, other than a matter of cleanliness, has a hardon, seriously, so what? I'd start caring if they wanted to use it on any unwilling person or anyone who was unlikely to be able to give legal consent.

That does seem to fairly balance the interests of everybody.

Wouldn't you just hate to be a cop in San Francisco?

I know several SF cops actually and they love the Castro District, it's one of the less troublesome areas of San Francisco except during large events like Pride weekend and Halloween. Those events have gotten out of hand at times but you'll find that most of the time it's out of towners that are causing the problems.

But nekkid folks? Meh. Not a big deal.

Remind me not to eat at any restaurants if I visit 'Frisco before these protests are over. I'm not keen on shed pubes drifting into my mashed potatoes.

Naw, most of the nudies around here shave their junk, the smooth look is in. You're more likely to get a plate full of pubes for using the word 'Frisco' at some establishments. Just sayin. ;)

Reminds me of world's shortest dress code.

Back in mid to late 90's the company Southern California Operations, a.k.a. SCO (as in SCO UNIX) had world's shortest dress code. It consisted of one sentence: "Clothings must be worn during work hours".

Originally SCO had no dress code at all. "Clothings must be worn during work hours" was instituted after one unfortunate incident when they were not.

Later the company changed a lot, and dress code became much more detailed.

A towel under a behind is just polite. It protects the behind and it's vulnerable little Pluto twins too.

Hard ons in the human male can be caused by many things outside of sexual arousal, including simple chilly weather. Cold pools have many a third leg proudly standing forth from swimwear.
