Why not war against Islam?

Funny. She is not going to win. Case closed.
Unfortunately, I don't think anyone can be sure that this is the case. There's a large segment of religious fundamentalists, and it seems they're very active lately. It's my impression that they've basically hijacked the republican party. And regarding your statement that this won't affect you: Are you not a resident of the United States? That was my impression, let me know if I'm wrong.

how does a typical day in your war against Islam look like?
You are messed up.
I have to keep correcting you.
Tell me why I should have to keep correcting you if you are not going to show any effort to get what I say straight and accurate. Tell me.

Show me where I have said I am in a personal war with Islam on a daily basis?

well you are promoting a war (not a physical one) against Islam. are you telling me now that this is merely talk and that you are actually not waging that war on Islam?

what is this debate then about ???????

I will look into this. I somehow cannot believe someone THIS crazy has a chance. her popularity might be a kind of backlash. But my gut tells me it won't last.

Alright, Alright. We will continue this off line.

Alright, Alright. We will continue this off line.

what are you talking about?

what kind of war (not a physical one) on Islam are you talking about?

tell me, what is a warrior supposed to do in this war?

She frightens me as much as Sarah Palin did. PAlin's religious group, if memory serves, believes that angels and demons physically exist, and that the demons were conveniently their political opponents. They believe that their cause in government is to "transfer wealth from the godless to the godly".

And it doesn't help that more than one republican politician has stated an intent to rewrite the constitution so it better follows their version of the bible.

I could be wrong, (And boy, do I ever hope I am!), but every time I look, it seems there's a republican politician advocating for a theocratic government in some form or another. It's something like rewriting the constitution, or reducing women's rights, or some other such nonsense.

I get the impression that there's a huge regression going on. And it worries me.

#EDIT: Addition. I've been trying to get more info on Palin's religious group for some time now, mostly without luck. I'd like to get ahold of their own study material, but everything I'm finding is second or third source. Not good enough. I can't even remember the name of the group off the top of my head.

DC raises some good questions, I think.

Let's go ahead and assume that there is a "war on/against Islam".

Who is fighting this war?

Who are they fighting against (especially if this is a war on Islam and not a war on Muslims)?

How do you distinguish between "Islam" and "Muslims"?

How is this war to be fought? What are the strategies and tactics of this war?

What is this war's battlefield?

Are there to be "side" campaigns against other religions, or is this a war against Islam alone? If other religions are part of this war, how are the above questions answered in regard to Christianity, or Hinduism, or Shinto, or whatever?

Hillary Clinton did not believe that she dodged bullets in Bosnia. But it was something she thought she needed to say to show military valor and international wisdom to get elected.

In a similar way Michelle Backmann might be saying this crazy creationism stuff because she figures her base wants to here something like it. She doesn't come out and say evolution is a lie. Did you notice that?

It might be possible that she does not really believe it. Hillary did not really believe that she dodged bullets. She was betting on the fact that her visit was not video recorded.

But one thing is sure. Even if she is elected, there is no way she will have the power to make public schools teach stupid stuff.

She will also not have the power to make abortions illegal.

I do not see any Christian threat. Show me where it is. Politicians are not going to have me dragged into the street and shot. It does not matter what they believe religiously.

So where is the christian threat to me and why is it I should worry about it more than Islam?

yes, it is the 'canadian broadcasting company', our national radio network.www.cbc.ca

i would venture that the majority of born-agains are fundamentalists.

I think you could not be more wrong. But I might be suprised. Still, it sounds like leftist propaganda to me. Fear is a great motivator. Liberals know this all too well (manbearpig, anyone?).

I would venture that the majority of any group are not interpreting the bible literally.

No major christian sect does. Even the pope said (john paul II) that the bible should not be interpreted literally.

Come on, man, an army of people who think the world is flat? Doesn't that sound a little far-fetched? So you are saying 70% of the USA thinks the world is flat and all those old testament stores are real??? I can't believe that.

That's it? and you call that a war?
I hope you have a good fight then.
iam far more fighting Islam than Scientology (Only subscribed to XenuTV on YT and once treathed the idiot scientologist in my city that kept asking me if i have a few minutes time. he never did it again)

when you call that a war i am already a warrior. But will defend Islam against false accusations anyway.

As i said already, i am all for debunking their nonsense and speaking out against intollerance etc.
but i would not call that a war, that is just the daily life of an Atheist Youtuber.

funny question since you and I are both on it now

Wow. Dudette, what is the chrsitian threat and why is it bigger than Islam?

Stop trying to weasle out of backing up your passionate rhetoric.

Personally, I don't find it a big deal as to whether or not she agrees with the scientific consensus on evolution. That's pretty irrelevant. My main concern is she's basically trying to force theological teachings into a public school. To me that's a big no-no. If the government tried to force classes into sunday schools, I'd be against it, because that is not its place. Creationism does not have a place in science class. The point of a public education system is to better prepare the next generations to compete effectively in the global work force. Creationism has nothing to do with any of that. It simply does not belong.

But one thing is sure. Even if she is elected, there is no way she will have the power to make public schools teach stupid stuff.
By herself, no. But she is not alone. There has been a massive push lately to get (for a lack of a better term here, no offense intended) radicalized christians into the government. What happens if they suddenly have a majority and can pass whatever laws they want? How many of the republicans who intend to run for president have claimed god told them specifically to run? I think it's more than three.

She will also not have the power to make abortions illegal.
No, but they can pass other laws to restrict access to it to the point where getting an abortion isn't feasible. Look at South Dakota. They tried (I think it passed, actually) to impose a few days waiting period, and mandated a sonogram that be shown to the mother whether or not she wanted to see it, under the guise of "giving them information". I'm pretty sure any woman going for an abortion knows exactly what one is and how it is done. I doubt any woman has walked into an abortion clinic and said something like "So, what are these 'abortions' all the trendy women are getting? I want one too!" No. This law was passed (I think) purely for the purpose of browbeating women. It intentionally adds more stress into an already stressful event. And why?

I do not see any Christian threat. Show me where it is. Politicians are not going to have me dragged into the street and shot. It does not matter what they believe religiously.

So where is the christian threat to me and why is it I should worry about it more than Islam?

For the reasons I noted above, I believe christian extremists here in the 'States are more dangerous to all of us than any muslim extremist abroad. I say this because they are in positions of power, have the ability to do serious damage through legislation, and have shown no inhibitions on doing whatever they think thier particular religious sect wants them to.

An extremist muslim might blow up a building. An extremist christian running for president wants to cripple the public education system. Severely. That is why I consider them a bigger threat.

i just googled 'united states belief in evolution', and learned that estimates vary between 14.5% and 40% of americans believe in evolution.
that would certainly indicate, that over 50% of americans believe the biblical story of creation.

actually, catholics are probably the most open to scientific reality.

THEY call it a war, man

If you think killing people will stop a religion, you are delusional.

The media calls it a war too:

http://news.cnet.com/8301-10789_3-9858436-57.html

LOL they are a bunch of useless teenagers.

they are so laughable. really.

i never said killing people is the way to go, except for the extremists. those are being fought against already in a real war.

that is the main reason i would not call the debunking of religious claims a war. it is confusing.
