Why not war against Islam?

ANTPogo, you attack people personally whom you disagree with. That is wrong. That is called ad homimem.

"The ad hominem is normally described as a logical fallacy, but it is not always fallacious; in some instances, questions of personal conduct, character, motives, etc., are legitimate and relevant to the issue."

Also if you find a mistake -- I believe you would even exploit a misspelled word -- you insist all of the other points and facts that person makes is invalid.

Only if they continue to make error after error and show no sign of either learning from corrections or endeavouring to educate themselves on the topic.

Once you find one error you feel you have license to ignore any and all other facts and issues. To your way of thinking since the Taliban really did originate from Afghanistan then Islam is good and we should all embrace it.

Also you seem to insist Islam is good because other religions are bad. Care to explain that?

Care to elaborate on that?

I saw pics on that page of protestors.

They don't consider themselves separate from Islam. They consider themselves part of Islam, faithful and devout Muslims. As DC pointed out, Protestants were no less Christian for wanting to change the Church.

Good job. I stand corrected.

Now, as far as your other opinions go: I will go with what Muslims and former Muslims tell me rather than someone who levels personal name-calling tactics.

so was this a blatant lie Bill?

Once agin, I did not say they were seperate from Islam. You like accusing me of saying things I don't say.

Kind of like accusing me of saying that Seattle was a seperate world from the rest of the country.

And protestants are very very very anti-Catholic in may parts of the world. Where have YOU been. Of course they split from them!!

Let's look at what you did say:

Cleon posted the following:

They are not protesting Islam; they are part of Islam.

You replied with this:

Obviously you disagree with Chaos' suggestion that they're not protesting against "Islam" as a whole (viz a specific interpretation of certain religious rules held by some Muslims), but consider themselves part of "Islam" as a whole. If you don't, then your reply makes no sense at all.

Kind of like accusing me of saying that Seattle was a seperate world from the rest of the country.

If Islam is a bigger threat in Seattle, especially to gay rights, than Christianity is, then it is a separate world from the rest of the country.

I said "Protestants were no less Christian for wanting to change the Church". I never said "no less Catholic".

But YOU are the one who keeps bring up Seattle, not me!!!

Can't you see this?

I NEVER SAID THAT SEATTLE WAS DIFFERENT THAN THE REST OF THE COUNTRY IN REGARD TO ISLAM !!

I said "Protestants were no less Christian for wanting to change the Church". I never said "no less Catholic".
LOL!! Oh man, how you wish you were right and you keep on a-fightin'

At one time, there was only "christian" church. Apart from the Greeks, that one church in Europe was the Catholic Church. The Lutherians and the Brits had to split from it.

So, when the Protestant sects split from the Catholic Church, they stopped being Christian?

Let's look at what you did say:
So, let's review.

I said it was not possible to be pro-islam and also pro-gay-marrage.
Cleon found a news page of muslim gays in the UK protesting islam and say that proves me wrong because, as Cleon said, "you CAN be gay and muslim".

I say that that is not what I said. Of course you can be gay and muslim. Cleon changed what I have said into something crazy and easily disproved.

Then Cleon said that these people have to be pro-islam because they are muslim.

But they are protesting islam. they are clearly NOT pro-islam.

now Cleon is saying that, (by some magic) everyone who is muslim has to be also pro-islam.

how is that possible? how can they be former Muslims? you just informed us that it is not possible to leave Islam.

Good job in taking something out of context. I applaud your ability to do that.

Did I say that specifically? I will have to go back and look.

Or did I say or mean that it was not possible for the poor souls in some countries.

No, they're protesting a specific interpretation held by some Muslims. They have nothing whatsoever against Islam itself, since as devout and faithful Muslims, they're pro-Islam by definition.

Ooh, nice try. Let's include the part you left out - namely, that the news article was about two religious Muslim women who wanted to get married.

Proving, conclusively, that it is possible to be pro-gay marriage and pro-Islam.

But they are protesting islam. they are clearly NOT pro-islam.

They're not protesting Islam. Find another straw to grasp.

in the context of the UK......

That is a good point.

But lots of gays want to get married in states where it is illegall too.

If it is in the news, it is safe to assume that it is not allowed and they are using the public media as a platform for protest.

Thus, they are AGAINST the existing policy.

That is a good point.

Why Bill, that's as close as you've come to admitting you were wrong. I'm proud of you! :)

But lots of gays want to get married in states where it is illegall too.

Revelance?

If it is in the news, it is safe to assume that it is not allowed and they are using the public media as a platform for protest.

Not really safe to assume that, but whatever.

Thus, they are AGAINST the existing policy.

Yep. Against the existing policy, not against Islam.

So where's this "world" of yours, then?

You have been rude, unfair, crass, and personally insulting to me with no just cause.

And yet, in order to defend the position you have chosen you naturally expect me to tell you all about where I live and what my work is like.
Pass.

You still ignore direct quesitons. What does the fact that christianity is bad have to do with the goodness of Islam?
