"I know my criticisms are dead on because I don't know a single dang thing about the topic and I flat-out refuse to remedy my ignorance!"
Certainly a unique debating technique, I must say.
You've been lucky!
The Catholics had the inquisition and the crusades. Since then they have been pretty much quiet. They seem to be anti-abortion. OK, so that is much worse than terrorism. Is that it?
No, that's not it. The point is that you are talking about Catholics in the same way that you talk about Muslims -- treating them as all being the same.

BBC said:
Catholic women in the United States are as likely as women in the general population to have an abortion, and 29% more likely than Protestant women.
[...] 64% of US Catholics disapprove of the statement that abortion is morally wrong in every case
Reading what the Vatican says (earlier on that page) you may ask why those I quoted continue to call themselves Catholics. And why the Pope still considers them Catholic -- we even had a thread on this inspired by a comment of Richard Dawkins regarding the Pope's claim for the number of Catholics in the UK.
it reminds me of a Progressive talk show that went on and on and on and on and on about the Hiroshima bombing. To me this meant two things. Number one, Liberals and progressives have to remind themselves that nuclear bombs are bad. Number two, they are so clueless that they assume that Republicans do not know what nuclear bombs are bad.
Is this really all you walk away with from a documentary about the Hiroshima bombing?
I have to wonder if the same mind set is going on here. Someone who is against Islam must be too stupid to know that other religions have their faults as well. Is that what you think?
I really don't know how you got this impression.
Or maybe you are too lazy to voice your displeasure against Christianity and when you find someone voicing their displeasure about another religion you are really upset towards yourself for not doing something about what was bothering you.
That your criticism is itself being criticised is not because of its target. It is because your criticism is badly founded. I'm certainly not upset with my own abilities to criticise religious ideas. In fact, I'm quite proud of them. When discussing matters with a particular Muslim I take the time to find out what that Muslim actually believes. And then I base my response on what he/she says they believe.
Got to go back quite a way to find an example of a 'debate' with a Muslim on this forum(quotes because he didn't respond to any points raised):
On the divinity of Jesus:

On the meaning of 'Nutfah':

When it comes to criticising entire religions, I'm reminded of someone's response to the question 'What CAN you say about gay people on this forum?':
They are gay and they are people. Anything else said about such a large group is not likely to be true.
(Apologies for not giving credit to the source of that).
