I look at it as a flame. Like fire, it can be hot sometimes and it can burn somtimes and it can destroy sometimes. We should be obligated to plant seeds of doubt to lower this flame.

Osama bin Laden and his kind feel absolute certatude and this is required to kill and die for your beliefs. If you have doubt, you are less likely to fly a plane into a building or strap a bomb to your chest in order to have endless orgies with brazilian supermodels in heaven.

There are people doing this with Scientology. Why not with Islam? The numbers do not matter.

Numbers matter to only democrats and liberals. It does not matter to fact vs fiction. It does not matter to reality vs myth. It does not matter to science vs superstition. Reality and truth are not determined by taking a vote.... or it ought not to.

i don't think they will cast doubt on extremists, it rather further strengthens their belief. especially not the first one. the sedond one surely might do something with saner moslems.
Not sure how well such things worked for other religions where such information is longer and more broadly avaible already.

This is why I asked for details.

Because as I expected, I get a bunch of vague crap that really is nothing more than I suggested in the first place ... coexistence.

Do you know why I suggested "openness"? Because there's a great deal that can be accomplished by exposing Islamic culture to western ways. So if you want to contribute by writing an angry blog or two, that's cool.

It will take time and patience, and it won't always be pretty, but it's still coexistence.

If we broadened the criteria? Saddam's genocide of the Kurds in Northern Iraq would be three. Saddam's genocide of the Shiite Muslims would be four.

The Religion of Peace needs to be toned down if it's speaking to Muslims. You're not going to get anyone reading past the headlines the way it is now. When people convert they do it in small steps. Anyone who is sympathetic to radical Islam is going to take one look and go elsewhere. If you want Muslims to read it it should look like it comes from Muslims.

Why not a war on Islam? How about because of this. There should be no war against Islam because they already lost the war almost 10 years ago on 9-11.

Did someone here say that so-and-so did not act like a true muslim? Am I going to hear that argument again? Well since islam is not true, there is no such thing as a true muslim.

Implying that Islam is OK because Christianity is bad too is just as stupid as saying cancer is OK because people die of heart disease too.

A 5 year old can tell you that two wrongs don't make a right.
 
Look at Indonesia under Suharto around 1965. Dutch New Guinea and most recently East Timor. Most of the victims were non-muslims and the perpetrators muslim.

Infact if you look at the history of Indonesia you'll see the gradual colonisation by islam was mostly through violence.

A fantastic point.

So a five year old should be able to tell that it is wrong to wage war on a group of people simply because one thinks they might be planning to wage war on your own group.
