<SNIP>

Priebus accused the president of recording a fundraising appeal in the Map Room of the White House. He said it is "not part of the White House residence, but rather 'occupied in the discharge of official duties,'" and called for the Department of Justice to investigate.

<SNIP>

White House spokesman Eric Schultz told CNN, "As we've said in the past, this was wholly appropriate and routinely done in past administrations."

"Many lawyers and experts have all said publicly that what this administration is doing is completely above board," Schultz fired back.

Despite the RNC's claims, both Republican and Democratic administrations have considered the Map Room as part of the White House residence.

Bolding mine.

Are they desperate enough yet?

but but but..... he's a socialist and wants to redistribute the maps!!!

Sounds like you are quoting a Priebus opinion, given as an opinion.

So where is the "RNC lie"? Was he lying about his opinion? :)

Ben, you are exaggerating as much as Priebus.

If the chairman of the RNC doesn’t speak for the RNC who does?

I see little evidence he is just offering a random personal opinion as he specifically calls for an investigation.

Accusing the president of a crime and asking for an investigation to be opened on it is a tad more than "giving an opinion".

That being said, it might not be a lie so much as ignorance and an amateurish attempt at playing "GOTCHA!". Priebus is showing himself to be an idiot and just lost some credibility with this stunt.

At the risk of sounding prejudiced, and having never met the man, anyone named, "Reinse Priebus" is probably a douche bag. It would almost be impossible to grow up with a name like that and not be a douche bag.

I can understand his folks had a tough decision to make, as they were kind of stuck with "Priebus", but was "Reinse" really the best they could do?

It's got to be an anagram.

Reburies Penis?

This is one of the reason I loathe Republicans: their transparent attempts to manufacture controversy. And Michelle Obama wanted to have a rapper named "Common" come perform. What outrage will they gin up next?

I was just informed his first name is not Reinse, but Reinhold.

Reinhold Reince Priebus.

I would have stuck with Reinhold. It has an air of German badassness to it, and it's arguably way less douchey.

Fine, but it is still an opinion. How can an opinion be lie?

How is it a lie, He believes the map room is a place of state business not part of the personal residence. Generally the second floor is the personal residence, the map room is on the first floor. It was used for a swearing in , etc. Seems to be a reasonable argument. Maybe a court of law would find otherwise but that does not make him a liar.

Personally I do not like the White House being used for campaign or political fund raising purposes by any President.

Do I think he should have wasted his time requesting an investigation , I don't really know enough but I doubt it.

There is already a precedent set for this that has been in place for decades. A court of law is not likely to reverse that for no reason other than partisan point-making.

Preibus is either lying or a complete idiot.

Maybe it's another one of those "not supposed to be taken as a factual statement".
