Freemasonary, Is it really free and does it have anything to do with masory?

The part of Hong Kong I'm "from" is New Orleans via Memphis via Tulsa via New York City via Ottawa via Montreal via Pittsburgh via Jersey City via Taipei. The part of Hong Kong I live in is Kowloon.

I stayed in the Olympic terrace suites in Mong Kok twice. I recomend it highly. They did lose my reservation during high season the second time I went there and had to throw a chinese businessman out on the street though. He seemed rather upset. They did it was because it was a 21 day reservation and not because he was chinese. I am sure that they like the chinese people being chinese themselves. In low season they like americans much better there though.

A surprising number of members of the 9/11 Truth group We Are Change are also Freemasons.

I guess even one can be a surprising number. Care to give something a little more concrete and/or show that the percentage is higher than truthers in the population at large?

Aside from this 'gentleman', they seem to be keeping a rather low profile.

We regularly talk about how evil they are and whether or not Masons can do good.

So how is it you know they're Masons? Or is this conjecture/assertion on someone's part? And if you're regularly talking about "how evil they are", then it'd seem you have some reading to do about Masonry in addition to 9/11.

I was recently able to convince someone that Masons do not, as a rule, abduct babies. This is a true story.

Well that's a relief. Or maybe not. :eye-poppi

eta: And a niggle here but FFS, it's Freemasonry, not Freemasonary. If you're going to slag us, is it too much to ask that you get that much right at least?

Nobody, wonders how I know they threw a thin Chinese business man wearing a black suit out on the street. Heh. I just happened to see him somehow. I am pretty good at just happening to be places.

Due to the amount of sarcasm being thrown around here...please tell me the bold is joking.

Although I do not doubt in a fraternity with millions of members someone is dumb enough to fall for 9/11 truth, I would hope masons would be the least likely to do since the rituals should among other things pass on the value of rational thinking through the sciences (via the 2nd degree).

I do notice more than ever before an increase of what I call fakemasons - people who claim to be freemasons and belong to "become a mason by mail/sending us a paypal payment" scam organization. These are usually the people looking to impress their friends, which strike me as the sort of people would also be in 9/11 truth (to show off their "inside knowledge" about what "really is going on").

Do Freemasons really have millions of members these days? From the outside the lodges look rather decrepit were I live. Is it more a Washington or metropolitan US phenomena?

Millions would be conservative, Freemasonry's "decline" phase ended in the early 2000s and a majority of lodges are experiencing membership booms again from very young members. Not every lodge is going to look like the House of the Temple in DC - most of them are ran on a few thousand dollars per year.

The one in the centre of Bristol is quite exceptionally lovely inside. I got a look a couple of years ago on "Doors Open Day".

One of my friends who is a member of a London lodge told me recently that they were still having big difficulties recruiting younger (< 40yo) members. I don't know if this is typical of the UK as a whole.

At the moment there is no shortage of money though.

That must have been a really cheap flight, but rather long.
