Awesome. Just awesome. If you don't mind me asking, how much were the tickets?

These were the most expensive tickets apart from the Splash Zone between the catwalks. Those tickets were $195 but they included a Kylie showbag and a raincoat.

Okay. My estimate was for the Splash Zone tickets.

Is there an online gallery of these photos that I can show to non-forum people without having to link multiple individual posts? :)

No there's not. I could make one, I guess, but it would sort of defeat the purpose of having already donated my time, effort and bandwidth to the Forum and could also put me at risk of breaching Rule 4 of the MA ("do not post large amounts of material available from other sites").

At least it's only four posts, and they are consecutive.

:)

Kylie puts on spectacular performance in Cape Town

18 Jul 2011

Kylie Minogue gave Cape Town quite a spectacular show at the Grand Arena on her opening night. She arose as the ethereal Aphrodite from a golden shell on a magnificent stage with talented dancers and high flying aerialists.

Building and designing that stage took 500 people and two huge 747s to transport to South Africa.

She interacted with Cape Town and performed her more popular songs, which got the crowd cheering, stomping and singing along.

This was the Kylie we'd all come to see! During a haunting ballade, Kylie could not keep a straight face as she heard intermittent yells of "We love you, Kylie!"

It was obvious why Kylie Minogue remains one of the world's most successful artists with sales of more than 60 million albums and 50 hit singles.

Encore!

"The sign says geography lesson, map of Australia on the wa-all
I only look at Tasmania, the one place I adore"

Painters and Dockers - "Nude School"

Vale, Margaret Olley

The iconic Australian painter and arts philanthropist has died.

With the death of Australia’s most beloved painter of still lifes, the art world has lost a national treasure.

The 88-year-old Margaret Olley AC was found dead in her Paddington home on Tuesday morning.

She had been preparing for a solo exhibition – one of more than 90 throughout her illustrious career. She continued her work until the last, joking in a recent interview, “I think now as the mon dieu comes I’ll say ‘just one minute, I’m not ready yet. I’ve still got to do that painting.’”

A state memorial service will be held next month at the Art Gallery of New South Wales. "It’s the perfect venue as Ms Olley donated over 140 works to the gallery," said NSW Premier Barry O’Farrell.

"Margaret Olley truly was a state treasure and her loss will be felt right across the arts community and beyond."

"We can only be thankful her artworks and the impact they had on the community will live on forever."

I have no doubt that a future issue of ARTONLINE (the NGA's monthly magazine) will have a big write-up on Margaret's life and work so I'll do a longer article then with the benefit of that resource.

I'll bet all her artworks have at least tripled in value overnight!

I don't think I'll bother anymore.

Why not mate?
I always look forward to your spreads - except the Kylie thing - yeah, yeah blasphemy I know; she has done very well for someone whose main attribute is a really really nice bum. ;)

It would be fair to say that most of us know only a little of Margaret Olley and personally I was looking forward to some more information with the typical Pharaoh's flair.

Cheers.

The problem arises because there are not too many people who follow art as in paintings and such. Now the art of dancing on a stage with very little clothing on is something else. That kind of art is much more popular. :D

The problem is people with nothing better to do than vandalise the thread with ignorant, boorish nonsense.

It may perhaps have escaped your notice that this is the History, Literature and the Arts subforum.
