TAM 9 is Sold Out

I'm just worried that the Del Mar won't be expecting the constant rush and will run out of beer.

Well, I'm not one of the lucky attendees. However, getting my degree and professional certificate really is more important...for one year, anyway.

Best wishes to those that are going! -- MK

There's fear that if 1500 people learn they can't all fit in the bar, they'll all cancel?
No, you're just not supposed to suggest that people might be crushed to death in the rush for seats and beer.

Hopefully we can move to the Exhibition Hall if we need more space next year. I heard that can seat up to 3000.

Oh, come now...skeptics don't drink that mu-Oh, who am I kidding? They might be out of all alcohol by Thursday morning! :D

I hope this doesn't mean less tables in the event hall. I mean I'm happy and everything, but I really do like the tables.

Surely a hotel bar would know what to expect when they sell out of 2163 rooms, particularly since it was only 1 year ago that they had to endure our level of debauchery.

As a woman I am more worried about the bathroom capacity.

I'm sure someone will happily correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't TAM8 very close to a sell-out? If so, then I wouldn't expect they'd have to make any changes to the seating configuration this year, as there really won't be that many more people.

It's true that as the percentage of female attendees grows, the number of free bathroom stalls shrinks.

And we've always had to be patient when ordering drinks at the Del Mar, but at the very least, the drinks are cheap and the company while you wait is pleasant. I find that a good trick is to circle around to the outside bar, play a hand of video poker, and order your drinks there -- much faster service.

Last year, it seemed that you could die of thirst if you were expecting a waitress to bring you a drink... unless you're playing the machines, then they won't leave you alone.

Or buy it at the store and drink it at the bar. I got no complaints when I did that...

They're really quite relaxed about drinking in Vegas. All the usual rules you'd expect based on life elsewhere really don't apply.

I think it was TAM 7 where, at about 4AM, I asked the Bar Staff if they'd like us to leave so they could close, and they looked at me like I was too stupid to live.

The bartender lost my credit card last year, so when I tried to close out the guy who had replaced him was all, "Eh, you can pick it up tomorrow at lost and found." When I did finally pick it up, they'd neglected to ring up most of the previous night's bar tab, and they didn't seem too concerned about it, either. So yeah, can't speak for the rest of Vegas, but drinking at the Del Mar = awesome.

Good to know. No one ever has my brand of rum, so I may just bring a bottle to add to Cokes.

I didn't know that either. They had a pretty good selection of micro-brews at the store, so I think I'll grab a few six-packs there and make myself popular by sitting at the Del Mar and telling people where they can buy their own if they want one...

Yeah, but there were far fewer tables at TAM8 than there were at TAM7, I think they made adjustments as the numbers went up. From what I've seen posted elsewhere, we will have 200-300 more than at TAM8, so I bet we'll have fewer, if any, tables.
