I think you appear too rational to be lumped in with the dogmatic fundies. You have to get a bit more fire and brimstone into your schtick before you properly earn Atheist scorn.

So I believe that Yahweh in giving these simple restrictions to man, would result in all of us living a happy fulfilled lives.

To believe is to practice; so it can be stated –the God I believe in is Yahweh the God of Israel.
That means that I follow his commands not to lie not to steal and not to commit adultery or covet my neighbours’ wife.
To love my neighbour means not to lie to him or her; not to steal from them.
Further only to eat what Yahweh decrees.
To regard the union of marriage as the cardinal function in society.
I did say I would refrain from posting—but this one did get my attention.
Secondly to lie would make me feel bad—so I have stopped lying.
Like a satanist I feel I personally am a god. I have evidence for my existence and when I want or need somehing done I rely on myself to get it done. Incidentally I'm no Satanist.I'm speaking to you yrreg, DOC, Epix, Kumar and all the other theists.
Please take some time to sit down, think about this well for a while before you stampede to type, and explain:
1) Which God or Gods (And name each one of them) do you believe in and why?
2) Which God or Gods do you not believe in and why?
Do not write anything else that doesn't address these two questions. Don't tell me about how you think atheists are a bunch of boring pricks, don't tell me about how you once saw The Matrix and now how come this isn't a virtual reality simulation, blablabla. Sorry, I have to be really strict here to make sure you don't diverge into some meaningless 10.000 characters post that doesn't really address the topic. We already have the Timecube for laughing purposes, don't bring that in here. Remain on topic. Otherwise, I will report those posts that derail this thread.
I am a theist, but unfortunately I cannot answer your question because I don't believe in any Gods(I don't believe in anything).
In the light of many years of investigation and study on subjects relating to existence, including science. On balance I regard the existence of Gods* more likely than not.
Ok why.
Firstly it makes me feel good to live with these restrictions.
Secondly to lie would make me feel bad—so I have stopped lying.
Thirdly to steal means I would be breaking the law; that would make me feel bad, I would be prosecuted and sent to jail.
To commit adultery would mean that I would have to lie—and to lie makes me feel bad.
So I believe that Yahweh in giving these simple restrictions to man, would result in all of us living a happy fulfilled lives.
To eat that which is not detrimental to ones health means that I can enjoy a healthy life.
So why do I accept the laws of Yahweh—they give me as sense of freedom?

You are not unbalanced enough.
...".
I'm one of them, I am not a theist because I believe in the existence of a god or gods...
I understand rational discourse and critical thinking, but I do not understand why the vast majority of non believers think its a question of realism and nothing more. The question is larger than that and the answers more numerous.
So you're saying you believe in the idea that there is an intelligent creator but you haven't narrowed it down to any of the Gods from any of the current existing religions? Is this it?
YesThat could also be the definition for sufficiently advanced aliens. Depending on your definition of "the fabric of reality" that could even be a definition for humans.
.I am not using circular logic, I regard the existence of intelligent creators a naturally occuring phenomena, from bacteria, plants, humans, creator gods, etc etc.Personally, I really would like an answer to the original post that doesn't involve circular logic. I've asked this exact set of questions of Christians before and have gotten the "God exists because Bible says so and the Bible is true because God created it" response. Occasionally I have had it told to me that if I was touched by the Hold Spirit I would understand all these things but that the Holy Spirit cannot be explained only experienced
I can't provide an answer as I don't believe in these sort of Gods, sorry.Hopefully someone has a good, well thought out explanation that I can understand. I haven't found one yet but I'm still willing to listen and hope.

Sorry sir but that is not true. Everybody lies.
Why do you believe a god has told you to do those things?
I don't steal, I do lie when it is the morally correct thing to do, I eat well. All without a supernatural being telling me.
Fair enough, but you do realize that there are many, many Gods that hold the same commandments. Why then choose Yahweh in specific and exclude all the other ones?
Lying or telling the truth is a choice—I chose to stop lying and speak only the truth—it makes me feel good to be known as a man who is truthful and true to my word.
