Noah's Ark

A person who really believes in this fairytale is either to stupid to be considered human and should be sterilized or is a total sociopath and should be executed.
Ok so I’m being a cheeky monkey
I would say, very few day to day Christians have more than a “yeah sure, whatever the bible says “ level of belief

God put the fossils in place to mislead the logical-minded into temptation, thus separating the true followers from the satanists.
So he's a liar, too...

I just had a discussion about dinosaur fossils just last week. Please correct me if I am wrong, but I think there are only four camps.

-God put them there to test our faith.
-The devil put them there to lead us astray.
-Before the flood many animals grew much, much bigger than they do today; so those are the bones of ordinary animals.
-Those are dragon bones. How do we know that dragons existed? The Bible says so.

As counter arguments to these I'd basically go with
- why does God want us to lose faith so badly? It's tested enough without the science of evolution ever playing a part.
- So the devil is god's equal and its just a matter of choosing the winning side?
- where are the small brontosaurs? (or any other extinct large animal)

What I've never seen adressed in any of the sites claiming the flood was real is why the people going over to the americas forgot to take horses/cows/sheep/pigs/bronze- and ironworking and grains with them, while the ones remaining in the middle east didnt insist on keeping some maize, potatoes and tomatoes at least.

That always struck me as funny, too.

Give Humanity these great gifts of reason and investigation, then condemn them for using them fully, eschewing superstition (blind faith).

It's why I laugh at Fundies. Out loud.

Oh, no, I was assured that since scientists hypothesize a raft carrying monkeys from Africa to South America is the commonly held reason for New World Monkeys, then there should be no problem with a raft of marsupials (they tend to band together, don't you know?) threading the Black Sea, Bosporus and the Med, down the coast of Africa, 'round Cape Horn and fetching up on Australia's western shore. Or maybe several such rafts, though that might strain credulity a bit.

It's so obvious!

After all, Kangaroos are such good raft builders!

You're in good company.

I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect has intended us to forgo their use.

God DID fake all of the evidence that the world is more than a few millennia old and the flood didn't happen, and it WAS to test for faith versus logic... but the religious have it backward; it's because he doesn't want gullible idiots like them in Heaven. :D

Hmmmm. I guess I'll have to dig up that Bible Code algorithm and looked for "pwned."

From my experience, you'er wrong. Creationists/ID advocates typically simply ignore the fossil record. This particularly holds true when discussing fossils the Creationist/ID advocate has never heard of--say, trilobites, or Articulata brachiopods, or the mammal-like reptiles (can't be haven' no transitional forms!), or the Cambrian Explosion stuff. There's also another category you missed: Dinosaurs still exist, like in Loch Ness or the Amazon. ;)

Bad counter-argument, considering I ate the better part of a small therapod for lunch yesterday and my grandfather used the small counter-part to some Plio/Pleistocene monsters to plow his father's fields as a kid. Sloths and kin are much smaller today. No small brontosaurs, but small versions of extinct animals (remember, paleontology works on the morphospecies concept--it's entirely plausable that a species goes extinct and its decendants, which are a continuation of the same population, persist to today) are all around us. The real flaw in this is that most extinct animals are well and truly extinct--gone, never to return.

... and that opinion went so well for him.
Well politics, personality (GG was an unpleasant person who alienated pretty much everyone and publicly called the pope a simpleton) and his inability to prove his statement of the Copernican hypothesis was correct (through his own opinionated intransigence and alienating those who had the observational proof) also helped.:)

Well, according to one Creationist argument, dragons (including the ones in the Bible) are actually dinosaurs. Works like Beowulf, which is a true story, prove that dinosaurs co-existed with humans into the Middle Ages at least. And that proves the world is around 6000 years old. Somehow.
