in 08 McCain had zero chance.. the only race was between Obama/Hillary during the spring.

so im just looking to hear opinions on what would be different in the economy, iraq, afghanistan, immigration, health care etc..??

its my opinion that it would be the same

What few gains that have been made with DADT wouldn't have happened. I'm fairly sure health care would be in even a more pathetic state than it is now, but that's just a WAG.

I doubt the Tea Party would exist. Cranky, old white people don't seem to mind government spending when one of their own is holding the purse strings.

The stress of the job would have given him a heart attack by now, and Palin might have kept a job for three years running.

There would be a national movement for a constitutional amendment to change presidential succession when people realize it could entail giving Palin the "football".

Should would have quit in the second year.

President Pelosi.

Actually, if the VEEP resigns, they appoint a new one. That's how Gerald Ford got to be president. And if Ford had died, Rockefeller would have taken over. Only if the President and the Vice President die before Congress can appoint a successor does the Speaker of the House take over.

If someone asked you if you knew who the President was, you wouldn't necessarily answer, "Whatshisname, the black guy."

Hmm with a democrat house and sentate I guess it would look awfully like bush's last two years in office.

Probably more troops still in Iraq and not even an attempt to finish afghanistan.

The recession would probably have ended up doing even more damage to those caught by it.

Obviously no attempt at healthcare reform but probably less of a tea party.

Absolutely no head of state anywhere would have died.

Is that right?

McCain dies ---> Palin becomes president ---> Palin resigns without a vice president ---> Pelosi becomes president

Maybe I'm missing something though.

My guess is the economy would be much worse off. We'd be surging troops into new places but would probably still be withdrawing from Iraq.

Others mentioned the DADT thing.
