Michelle Bachmann could be our next president.

I'm wondering what the limit is on religiosity from a politician before it starts to take a significant negative toll on his or her candidacy. I have in mind Bachmann's leading a prayer while speaking to the Faith and Freedom Conference yesterday. It led another religious nut candidate, Herman Cain, to criticize her for pandering. I assume that this particular audience probably isn't put off, but what about the larger population of voters who might otherwise vote for a Republican candidate?

Do they start to run away when they perceive politicians are doubling as clergy, and leading prayer?
I think it's one reason that McCain was able to rebound in 2008 to win the nomination. Huckabee looked to be making big inroads and moderate Republicans were horrified by his overt holy-rollerism.

Michelle declared today that God is directing her non verbally to run for president. Wow, pretty sure I gave that directive yesterday. Of course I am not saying I am god or anything. Anybody know if that interview was late last night or early this morning?

I'm just hoping that God not only wants her to run, but also wants her to lose.

Pretty much whoever wins is the ones with the best lines. Nobody has questioned whether or not she has been a good christian since she was 16. That's what she's running on. With the right backing and a few good lines she could be tough to beat.

Yes, I saw that too, though my take was that God was telling her what to do and it seems God isn't too crazy about having a minimum wage law.

If only she would run non-verbally, I could tolerate her a lot more easily.

An attractive neo-conservative woman is nothing but window dressing. As a rule, uptight Christians are lousy lays.

And, for that matter, I have a feeling that JudeBrando has a different idea of what is attractive. For me, bat-guano crazy is not particularly attractive.
Female. Women. Feminine. Her. She. Babe. Fox. Cutey. Good-looking. Not ugly.

Doesn't her Bible mention something about women leading prayer?

1 Timothy 2:11–12
11 Let a woman learn in silence with all submission. 12 And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence.

The one saying a prayer is leading those who are listening. It is a position of authority. Since she's so Christian, perhaps she should sit down and shut up?

Just sayin'.

This is what I mentioned in post #67 above. She's saying her own financial disclosure was untrue.

In Bachmann's financial disclosure forms, she reported receiving between $32,503 and $105,000 in income from the farm, at minimum, between 2006 and 2009.
. . .
As for the farm, she said, it belonged to her father-in-law. "It's not my husband and my farm. And my husband and I have never gotten a penny of money from the farm."

She was not asked about her financial disclosure forms.

Well, she's trying to convince people that she didn't benefit because she did not pocket the money. This completely ignores the fact that her businesses benefited from government help.
