"Not intended as a factual statement", Redux.

Well, clearly somebody needs to let the statehouse know about this. AZ clearly cannot let such un-American business practices like actually catering to those filthy illegals continue. I mean, if we actually sell products they are interested, they might think they are actually welcome in the great state of AZ, and the legislature has done its best over the last couple of years to show that that is not the case.

It all the fault of those damn liberal corporations! They hire them under the table and then entice them with delicious cheese flavored snacks.

It looks like McCain has forgotten the hard-learned lesson in humility that was the S&L crisis and scandal of the 80s. I guess they are ramping up the level of demagoguery to compensate for the lack of actual illegal border crossers. This is absolutely sickening. And the worst part is, McCain's and Kyl's imminent retirements only mean that soon, there may be loonier Senators elected to replace them.

This thought haunts my sleep. That I believe Palin could win a senate seat here shows you how much faith I have in AZ's political future.

The most amusing thing I find about that whole thing is thinking of Palin's first summer in Phoenix. I lived in LV for about 10 years. During the summer I consoled myself with this phrase: "at least I am not in Phoenix" The thought of somebody used to Alaskan weather coping with a Phoenix summer is just too funny for words.

I share your nightmares. I may move to Baja AZ after all. ;)

And we would welcome you! Reminds me I need to update the thread with our independence party on July 2nd. shameless plug

In Tucson we also say "at least I am not in Phoenix" but for more reasons than just the heat.

I personally think she took it as a serious suggestion when her liberal detractors told her to go to hell. A Phoenix summer was as close as she could find on the material plane.

I really miss the days when there was a friendly rivalry between Phoenix and that wide spot in the road down South. Seriously though, I love Tucson. My wife and I have taken several vacations at El Conquistador Resort - it's fantastic. There's nothing more beautiful that the high desert around there.

HA!

I was there when it reached 122 in 1990. It was too hot to go swimming.

Years ago (possibly that same summer), my mom got stuck in Phoenix for an extra day on a business trip. Some of the parts on the airplanes were only stress tested up to 130 and it was hotter than that on the tarmac. (I think the ambient temp was about 125 in the rest of the city)

The claim is that McCain is lying/dishonest. That's up to the people making that claim.

What if McCain had said...

"There is substantial evidence that some of these fires have been caused by the JREF poster commonly known as Newtons Bit..."

In the initial claim, the burden of proof is on McCain. Until he presents evidence, I would consider him lying or mistaken (you forgot "mistaken" in your quote btw). My belief is not a positive claim but rather the rejection of a positive claim. This is followed by reversion the null hypothesis of "I don't know who or what caused the fire."

Take your quote to its logical conclusion. A man claims to have seen telekinetic powers but presents no evidence. I reject his claim until I see evidence. You would tell me that the burden is on me to prove him wrong.

That's why McCain chose Palin as his running mate. She told him she had telekinetic powers, and after he looked up the word in the dictionary, he was too terrified to deny her anything. She was, in fact, just bluffing, and was very surprised to get away with it.

I worry about you sometimes.:D

That's what I was trying to say. Your approach is a lot better.

Strange how Arizona is the only place these illegals start fires. I mean we have loads of wildfires in California but the majority of them are started by idiot kids with fireworks and dry lightning.

But but but. . .the fireworks were probably smuggled in from Mexico!
