Herman Cain for President?

First things first. He's first got to show that he can win the nomination. Based on his performance so far and the fact that he has to battle a small but significant number of intransigent racists at the core of the GOP, I'd say even that is highly unlikely.

But I must admit, I'd love to see him debate one-on-one with Obama.

I'd love to see it.

It just gets better. Heck, I don't even need to spin this. Herman does all the heavy lifting.

No, Herman. That's not discrimination. In fact, just substitute the word "Black" for "Muslim" and you'll see how clearly that is perfectly non-discriminatory.

More here.

On the Glenn Beck Show today, the host asked the Georgia Republican about his refusal to appoint Muslims. Cain told Beck that he would be willing to appoint a Muslim only “if they can prove to me that they’re putting the Constitution of the United States first.” Beck followed up by asking if he was calling for “some loyalty proof” for Muslims. Cain said, “Yes, to the Constitution of the United States of America.” When Beck then asked “Would you do that to a Catholic or would you do that to a Mormon?” Cain told the host, “Nope, I wouldn’t.”

Only in businesses above a certain size. Candidates can select their staff on any criteria they choose, from religion to hairstyle, or, in Gingrinch's case, willingness to work for free.

I think he meant loyalty oaths in the government only for a targeted group.

No kidding. Here's hoping that someone pops the question in the debate tonight:
Mr. Cain, if a candidate for POTUS were to say "I am going to take extra precautions if a black person who is competent wants to work in my administration", what would your response be and why?

I only hope Herman would answer "When people get to choose their skin color and facial features, replacing moslem with black will make sense to rational people.".

Well then, too bad for Cain (and you) that racial and religious discrimination violate the same federal laws.

Sharpen your pencil Al.

So it's ok to discriminate against people based on religion, but not skin color..........unless they're Christian, then it's definitely wrong.

So if the guy looked like Osama bin Laden but told Cain, "I'm a Christian," you think Cain would drop the extra background checks, or do you think he might actually use "he looks like a Muslim" as one of his critera? Based on my experience with bigots, I'm guessing the latter.

I guess you're not too familiar with modern plastic surgery techniques.

Clearly, the answer to discrimination is to simply transform everyone into white, heterosexual Christians.

Herman Cain said:
Engage the people. Don’t try to pass a 2,700 page bill — and even they didn’t read it! You and I didn't have time to read it. We’re too busy trying to live — send our kids to school. That's why I am only going to allow small bills — three pages. You’ll have time to read that one over the dinner table.
Most bills are hundreds or thousands of pages long. Herman's pretty much admitting that he hasn't got the patience to read that much.
After he's learned the difference between the DoI and the Constitution he should look in to separation of powers. He can't prevent Congress from making the bills they initiate as long as they like.

What he said is that he would veto them if longer than three pages. A president could legally do that, but he'd be incredibly stupid to do so. Of course, Cain doesn't really mean it. He's just blowing smoke. I suppose it appeals to that segment of the population that is anti-education, but he'd alienate a large portion of his own party if he actually did such a foolish thing.

@Tricky. I'd have known that if I had opened your link. And I just found out I'd also have been more entertained.

How would requiring more/less security precautions for various religions not violate the 1st Amendment? Since when is "Blacks Muslims are just more dangerous, and they don't respect our values hate our way of life, so they must be scrutinized more closely" a common sense position and not just blatant alienation of Other?

He had few votes anyway from the atheist lefty-libs here (and elsewhere), but that stance might be worth an extra few million votes from Republicans and Independents.

That and the alligator moat.

Keep right on laughing though.

Was this comment actually supposed to be in support of Cain?

"Yeah, sure he's a bigoted moron, but that's the kind of person that votes Republican!"

Swatting flies with hand grenades, are ya?
