Summary ? :)

See Link.
You must have forgotten this - It was several hours ago.
platonov,

By "summary" I meant your statement made less than two hours ago that her testimony is in "complete contradiction" to what is found at Perugia-Shock. Let me ask again, where is the contradiction in the two quotes that I presented?

Note the testimony in red that you omitted from your post.

Who do you think you are kidding with this stuff halides1 :)
It's embarrassing to even have to respond to, never mind actually post.

With all due respect, why is there such obsession over a cartwheel? To me, it has absolutely nothing to do with guilt or innocence. Surely no one is using this ridiculous point to help form their opinion of guilt or innocence.

:):):)

It doesn't.

But half of the Faoker arguments found on the claim that they never happened.

The other half that they are the only reason she was convicted.

halides1 has mixed feelings on the issue depending on when and where [which forum] he is posting.

Oh and Kaosium thinks the cops lied about what time they happened at [for reasons that are not now nor possibly ever will be clear to me ], if indeed they did happen.

platonov,

I linked to her testimony, including the passages you quoted; you are merely looking for an excuse to avoid admitting that you were wrong in your claim of a contradiction in the two passages I quoted. There obviously is none. Your responses on this topic have been deliberately misleading. Each of your comments about the forensic files has been Machivellian in its disingenuousness or mendacity. You have failed to answer my questions on this subject, or respond to RoseMontague or katy_did on the same issue, and whether it is because you know that you are wrong or some other reason is not for me to say. I plan to ignore any further responses from you.

I was pretty sure that the power of the embassy is very limited. Is there any evidence that the embassy even reported the violations of Amanda to the state department? I have not seen evidence of this.

Newly released diplomatic cables reveal State Department officials regularly monitored Amanda Knox since the day after her arrest and through her conviction for murdering her roommate.

Once again Alt thank you for the response. I can't for the life of me understand why the judge overlooked these rights violations. Not allowing legal representation and failure to record the interrogations, seem like game changing things to me. I assume that Massei did not feel Amanda's were violated or he would have taken action on these

Poppy, the point is that the Perugian police allegedly used the cartwheel to inform their own opinion of guilt or innocence. They then passed the information along to the international press in an effort to form media consumers' opinions of Amanda' guilt or innocence.

To me, only small minded, ignorant people could use something like a cartwheel to help form their opinion, but you are correct Mary.

I just wonder how the obvious violations of Amanda's rights could be totally ignored by the press, the courts and the public.

The court that found her guilty and apparently, the United States Department of State disagree with you.

One of the points of this thread is to show that the court that found Amanda guilty reached an invalid conclusion.

The US State Department has never said anything about the evidence, as far as I know. They also have never unequivocally said they agree with the decision.

"It’s still early days, but as I said, we haven’t received any indications necessarily that Italian law was not followed."

Has Amanda or her family ever complained about any of the U.S. Consular officers or the Embassy?

Given that the people who wrote the letter are all close to the family and working on behalf of the family, I am going to guess they have, but in private.

Sigh....What don't you understand about the fact that a consular officer can not demand the immediate release of a U.S. citizen arrested abroad or otherwise cause the citizen to be released? You were right that they may offer medical assistance but they can't give or pay for legal advice.

This exchange from the press briefing suggests the State Department can bend the rules when necessary:

QUESTION: I’m sorry. Usually when there’s a case – there have been numerous cases of American citizens where you think that the trial was not fair and it was clearly a case in which the American citizen was not guilty. And I’ve heard you and other people --

MR. KELLY: Those are normally places where there isn’t a transparent judicial system. There is a fair, open, and transparent legal system in Italy. We’re not talking about a country where we have problems with their legal system.....

One wonders whether the United States could reach a point where they become convinced the Italian legal system was not transparent in Amanda's case, and that they do have problems with it.
