If the weiner wasn't a Democrat he would have already resigned in disgrace.

Evidence?

Were I sitting on a jury, there is no way I could accept any of the "evidence" against Weiner.

It is, however, totally consistent with slime boy Breitbart's MO.

I don't think you'd convict if Weiner were doing it in front of you in plain sight.

As to Breitbart: Same story, different day. NEXT!

No, this is "If you did something stupid, own up like a man, and get it over with." I don't expect the man to be a saint. I expect him to show some common sense.

Look, the way he handled it was obviously idiotic, but I still don't think much of this. He flirted with women online.

If you found out a co-worker was engaging in the exact same behavior then lied when his wife confronted him, would you disown that person and demand that he resign? Or would you just think, "what an idiot. I hope he can work that out with his wife."

It's easy to criticize Weiner in retrospect, but when the wolves are gathering outside, it's not shocking when people make poor decisions. This isn't to excuse his stupidity, but it is an argument for some level of understanding. There was nothing important on the line from society's perspective.

Let me get this straight; is the rationale for ignoring Breitbart the fact that he has smeared people in the past and then turned out to be wrong?

What does that say about the folks who have smeared Breitbart in this thread?
:p

I think the real question is why anyone at all, including you, would take anything Breitbart put his hands on at face value. That says a lot about you.

Breitbart getting one thing right for a change, doesn't change the fact that he deserves a good Smearing.

Actually, I'm not convinced he did. I guess we'll find that out based on the result's of Sherrod's lawsuit. Say, any recent news on that? :D

The Clinton Scandal became one when he lied under oath to Judge Susan Weber Wright. (I think that's the name.) Had he simply said, "I got laid and it was GOOD!" the whole thing would have been over and done with inside of a week.

No, it would not have been.

Wiener is my Congressman. He has emailed me several times in response to emails I have sent him. He even sent me a physical letter years ago.

I honestly, could care less about this whole issue. Why do you?

Well, I think I've made my view clear...

I swear, Hollywood has given people the idea that "hacking" means sitting in front of a login screen, typing really fast, and by the time Halle Berry's done giving you a BJ you have full access to everything under the sun.

You mean, she doesn't?!?!?!? :jaw-dropp

The sludge monster manufactured evidence against ACORN and Planned Parenthood. It is not fit to be taken seriously in public discourse.

Really?

I don't get you Americans' obsession with politicians' private lives.

As if a politician who likes to send pictures of his weiner around is somehow a worse politician.

It's fairly limited, those of us who are like that. The reality is that most of us would care less about what a politician did in his private life if the majority of them kept it private.

Bill Clinton didn't. Very few of them do, thinking for some reason that this kind of thing is appropriate for general discussion. It's not. In fact, even though he's dead, I'd rather not have found out about Lyndon Johnson's rather active sex life. I'm still trying to figure out the full extent of the impact of his policies; his sex life has no bearing on that.

But you DIDN'T compare how I would react. Your post contains nothing about my reaction. You don't even know how I would (or did) react. Nor did you ask. You simply rattled off the names of a bunch of other people who had sex scandals. No relevant point was contained within that post.

I don't need to PM you. I'll give examples publicly.

I'm not going to bother to dig further, but that's enough to disprove your accusation.

And I've noticed that it is a specific trait of you to categorically smear your ideological opponents

1) I simply put the names and scandals out there without any spinning of my own. How you responded was entirely up to you. The fact that you maintain that I made no relevant points in that post damages your integrity.

2) Excellent, thanks for demonstrating that you have at least a modicum of integrity. Which is exactly what I asked for from you to prove me wrong about you in that regard. Which you did. I admit it like a Man. Unlike Weiner apparently.

But it doesn't say a thing about you behaving like a Sore Winner, damaging your integrity on this thread, and lacking the courtesy to acknowledge that I did act with integrity.

3) Only if there is something to smear. This isn't a frolicking in the flowers forum with fluffy bunnies, rainbows and unicorns. It's full throttled Verbal Combat all the way on JREF.

All I ask is the courtesy to acknowledge my admissions of wrongness, instead of prevaricating about it.

Well, he did realize that we needed an Environmental Protection Agency.

So did Johnson, who first proposed it in private with Califano. He also knew it would never get past the Congress, so he kept it quiet.

Nixon would probably have never gone for it had it not been for the incredible amount of power it would have afforded the executive branch.

Most of my friends drive Kenworths, Petes, Freightliners, Internationals. They don't make Federal policy. When they DO make stupid decisions, I base continuing my relationship on just how stupid, and the impact those stupid decisions have had.

To wit: A friend sent me a somewhat graphic photo of himself and his gf. No big. He's a fellow driver, they're both of legal age, and they were just making a funny.

Another (now former) friend has been listed on websites relating to Amber's Law: He raped a 15 year old. The girl was under age, and what he did was clearly wrong.

Please consider this: A member of Congress sent lewd photos of himself to women who hadn't asked for these. Flirtatious? Yeah, probably. No big deal in most cases, except Weiner gets legislation before him which can have long term consequences. I expect the man to show better judgement, particularly given that it can be (and now is being) used against him.

And one more thing about Breitbart: He got it right this time. But best I can tell, that makes him 0-1, out of how many times at bat?

He doesn't deserve to be smeared, no more than anyone else does. (And no one does.) This doesn't mean you ignore his record, but you don't have to create dreck against him. (He does that quite nicely on his own.)

It is up to the people of his district to decide what they care more about.
I'd vote him out regardless of his politics. His sex life is irrelevant. What is relevant his his incredible lack of judgement in sending the pics in the first place, and lying about it afterwards. Someone that doesn't have common sense or good judgement should be replaced by someone that does.

The sludge monster did what it did to harm the people of this country. It still gets no pass from me.
Somehow I'm not surprised, yet his reporting of this was honest and correct and Weiner is a self admitted liar.

Ha, ha, ha! I'm loving this! Every single Leftist on here made complete ru****'s out of themselves defending and protecting this Weiner jerk (pun!).

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAAHHAAHHAAHAHAHAHAHA!

No more so then several Rightist have defending those on the right when they get caught with their hands in the proverbial cookie jar.

The double standard practices by both sides when it comes to stuff like this is one reason I am coming to the Politics section here less and less.
