It's tacky, but so what?
So Pelosi Calls for Weiner Ethics Probe. Anthony Weiner engaged in a deep personal failure and inappropriate behavior that embarrassed himself, his family, and the House according to Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee chairman Steve Israel.

I was going to say that my opinion of Weiner improved a little when he admitted it, but I think he was just trying to get out ahead of the ABC story. I wonder if he would still be denying it if he hadn't got wind of that story.

You need to tune into Leland Live tomorrow to see if he actually says something nice about Pelosi for once.

I might have to drag in my weather radio to work in order to listen...work sometimes blocks streaming audio.

I betcha he never mentions Pelosi, and just focuses on Weiner.

(Heh heh. Focuses on Weiner.)

Congratulations! You have reached the fallback position, which abandons the idea that Weiner has been the subject of a "prank" or "hack" and takes the new argument that yes, he's probably guilty of sending the original tweet, but it's no big deal.

Well, in my 14th post, way back in the past on June 2, I had already laid out my position:

You may be right. But you are still speculating.

Every politician (in the US) that gets caught up in these things equivocates. I can't think of one that hasn't. So whether you think it's plausible or not doesn't mean anything.

Personally, I don't care if it is his wiener. He's not a Social Conservative, so it's unimportant overall. It's only important if it's outright hypocrisy.

I'm not sure if that qualifies as a "fall-back" position, as I was already considering the possibility that Weiner actually posted his wiener. And I still can't think of any politician caught out in a compromising position that hasn't equivocated or prevaricated.

I still stand by my position as stated in my 14th post.

However, now that Weiner has confessed, his confession appears to be the most damning (and politically damaging) piece of evidence to date.

I'm not certain that his "confession" was truthful; and was perhaps coerced into "confessing" by Democratic Party leaders anxious to move on. But that is speculation on my part until determined otherwise.

And I still think Breitbart, Wolfe, and Tommy Christopher suck, and are a lying, manipulating batch of scumbags.

But Weiner's confession, real or not, trumps all. Therefore, as promised, I admit I was wrong.

ETA: Weiner's sex scandal is pretty trivial compared to many others on both sides of the aisle; and he has done nothing illegal or unethical in regards to his job as a politician. An ethics investigation is uncalled for.

Wiener is my Congressman.

And it turns out he LIED to me and the rest of his constituents.

I don't appreciate MY representatives LYING to me.

I welcome the ethics investigation. I bet he at least once, used govt. property to send the lude photos or messages.

I was leaning pro-Wiener too and I was wrong.

I'd like to point out that it is a clear case of my bias against the sources influencing how I viewed the information they presented. And it is useful to listen to those who want to trash someone for political reasons -- they are most likely to have the dirt. The problem is figuring out what is false and what is true. But to say everything that any particular group says is fake is just as wrong as accepting everything they say as true.

again, I don't care if Wiener or any other Congressman has web-sex with someone on their private computers or phones. That's their business.

now..when they LIE about it to their constituents? that's when I become mad. and that's when I want an investigation to begin, because they clearly cannot be trusted.

Ethics investigation or not, he showed an incredible lack of judgement in sending the pictures in the first place, then again in trying to cover the whole thing up. I can't seeing separating his lack of judgement in this with his ability in his job, nor will others.

Ditto. There were signs of his guilt throughout this debacle that I should have taken into account but didn't because media sources on the damning side have such poor credibility. I guess I should have also taken into account that politicians are pretty consistent in their ability to make bad choices when it comes to what their *ahem* wieners want.

Let the beatings begin!

Weiner didn't want to come clean prematurely.

What would you like "investigated"?

What do you need to know?

The overwhelming intellectual ability, integrity, logic and critical-thinking evidenced here should have had this thread in "conspiracy theories."
