Homeopathy – the natural way to sleep easy

The Homeopathy Research Institute has recently reviewed the evidence for homoeopathy's effectiveness in insomnia:
Conclusion
Homeopaths often treat insomnia, however, there is currently a lack of high-quality sufficiently powered studies assessing the effectiveness of either homeopathic medicines or treatment by a homeopath for this condition. There is a need for further well-conducted clinical trials of treatment by a homeopath in order to examine fully the clinical and cost effectiveness of the therapeutic system of homeopathy in the management of insomnia. This evidence will enable patients, clinicians and healthcare commissioners/insurers to make informed decisions regarding the homeopathic treatment of insomnia.

Interestingly, that is basically boilerplate for the conclusion of the large majority of published papers in any field that show largely unimpressive results (as scientific studies hava a nasty habit of doing). I've produced its like myself for ecology and zoology papers. But it somehow takes on a humorous undertone when applied to studies of complete monkey's bollocks. Nice attempted saving throw :p

Hello Darat,
Greetings.

Many topics are posted here on Homeopathy. Will it not justified to merge this and all new topics on homeopathy in one topic as per current practice for other topics?? Anyway you are the better judge.

Best regards.

What I'm particularly impressed by is that they are promoting homoeopathy for treating insomnia for HAW 2011 despite a Homeopathy Research Institute Newsletter article from only last year finding no good evidence for it, while elsewhere on their site we find:
The Homeopathy Research Institute Newsletter will allow you to keep up to date with key developments in homeopathy research effortlessly.

Equally interestingly I actually fell asleep while reading the review - does that count as evidence in favour of homeopathy?

Yuri
If you read about a pill, you're getting a more powerful dilution than if you were to actually take the pill, so I'd say YES.

I like how they try to hint that no evidence has been found because they've not studied it enough. In a 'well conducted' manner :D

Another example of of "homeopathy awareness" being something of a double-edged sword:

Gloucestershire homeopathy expert attacked on internet for views (the page title at the top of the browser reads "Author of homeopathy book tries to silence his critics").

Peter Adams, owner of the Stroud Natural Health Clinic and former practitioner in homeopathy, says he wants to silence his critics with the new book.

But the book has already faced a barrage of criticism on the web with one commenter saying: "Inviting the internet to his pro-homeopathy science book launch was Peter Adams' first ever tweet. Here beginneth the learning curve."

That is actually quite good for Gloucestershire I'm impressed with the comments. Without being unkind it's a bit like Deliverance round there at times. Hot Fuzz was a documentary.

Oooh, I think you need to ask Yuri Nalyssus about that one....

Rolfe.
Circling the waggons here in Woo Central, capital of the Ancient Isle of Avignuon!

It's only a couple of years ago that we had a running battle between Christians and witches in the High Street - seriously, it was in the paper and everything!

(I was rooting for the witches)
