I have heard conspiracy theorists say that the Federal Reserve is a private corporation, but never that the IRS was a private corporation until now. (You might need to scroll down to see this comment):

If the IRS was a private corproation, wouldn't that contradict the idea that the government is tricking everyone into being a "public officer"? For that matter, why write laws with such loopholes?

Roberta - This may sound off the wall to you but in a very real sense you do work for the government. By voluntarily signing up for SS you became a "public officer" working for the gov. This may sound hard to believe but I can assure you the "law" is very clear on this. The income tax is similar. You signed a "voluntary witholding agreement" (w4) offered by the gov through your employer. This is a private contract between you and the gov. The gov cannot compel you to sign anything. Once you sign up it is possible to terminate but it is not a trivial matter.
Almost all federal "law" only applies to "public officers" working for the gov. This includes income taxes, SS, Medicare and almost all "Acts of Congress" where congress is really only legislating for the federal United States and not the union states - they just don'[t tell you that. Obama's health care legislation can only apply to "public officer" or what is legally known as "US citizens" (federal citizens) domiciled on federal territory.
Oh, what you are paying are not technically taxes - they are voluntary contributions.........much of it goes tothe international bankers which allows them to do empire building and engage in private wars around the world.
Also keep in mind that neither the Fed Res bank nor the IRS are agencies of the gov. They are private for profit corporations.
I've read 1000's of pages of federal "law" (really codes), constitutional law and historical archives. I understand the game that is afoot. If you really understood it you would be horrified.
