While perusing the interwebs today, I came across a video on MSNBC about an advertisement for American Airlines at Ground Zero.

Seems pretty innocent, right? Sure, untill you read what it says.

Yeah, you read that right. "You'll like where we land."

Now, I know it was not AA that personally put that ad there, and it was the MTA (Mass Transit Authority), but, come on, who would not find that tacky?

It also says that American Airlines this week re-instated flight numbers 93 and 175. How the **** does that happen?!?!?!?!?

Discuss.

i bet it was on purpose as an impromtu joke. dude probably laughing his ass off over the news coverage now.

ultimate LULZ

Ummm, did you actually watch the article you linked to?

It is a United Airlines ad, not an American Airlines one, and it wasn't the MTA that put the ad there, it was done by an outside contracter that works for the MTA who determines where to put the signs, and the MTA has requested that it is moved ASAP.

What a silly, manufactured controversy.

I am more concerned if there is a mosque nearby.

United Airlines has a Hard Week

AD IN NEW YORK CITY

Honest, I wouldn’t have even known about this ad, except for the fact that United was apologizing to hundreds of people about the ad via Twitter. Anyhow, it looks like United put up an ad that states by ground zero in New York City stating, “You’re going to like where we land.” Okay, maybe not the best call, but come on people. This was an outside ad agency that placed the ad. Do you really think United wants to be associated with what happened on 9/11? They made a mistake, they are correcting it, they are apologizing, now let’s all move on.

REINSTATING 9/11 FLIGHT NUMBERS

With the merger of United and Continental, a computer system assigned the old flight 93 and flight 175 to current Continental Airlines flights. Currently, all flights fly both as United and Continental, so it would appear that United flight 93 and 175, which were involved in 9/11, were flying again. It was an honest mistake that was unintentional.

This was not a group of employees sitting around and deciding to re-instate the old flight numbers. It was more disturbing how big this story got versus what actually happened. Even after the flight numbers were explained, I saw legitimate news sources still waiving the “omg why would United do this?” blame flag. I ended up more disappointed in the media than I did with the airline on this one.

Meh. Even though, per the Supreme Court, corporations are people, they are also not, again, per SCOTUS, required to care how people feel if it stands in the way of profit.

There is no legal requirement for anyone to care how people feel.

You are lamenting the lack of a legal requirement for for-profit entities, in your personal jihad against capitalism, that doesn't exist for any entity.

Yes, you're right. My apologies....:o

You're right again.

I'm quite embarrassed......:o:o

I disagree.

I'm not. Greanted, I don't like the idea, but it wasn't Muslims as a whole that attacked us. It was Muslim extremists that attacked us.

To lump all Muslims in with the like of the late Osama bin Laden, is like lumping all white people in with the KKK, or all black people in with the Crips.
It's not right to label an entire group of people based on the actions of a few.

That was Spirit Airlines.

Arbelaez said that Spirit's senior vice president of pricing is a British citizen who was unfamiliar with the MILF terminology and that the airline is not trying to offend customers.

You'd think that someone within the organization would have mentioned it to him.

That would presume anyone knew. There was some organization, perhaps in Wisconsin, say Wisconsin Teachers Federation. (I don't remember the details). The reserved the domain name WTF.com or org. It took a while--I think they eventually changed the name of the organization--to Teachers Federation of Wisconsin, along with their url.

The comment might have been a joke rather than a serious statement of a poster's position.
