Israel has the legal and moral right to defend its borders. These borders are recognized by the United Nations and the International community.
 
I have much more sympathy for people who take their lives into their own hands, build themselves new lives and carry on then people who sulk about injustices done to them 60 years ago and think feeling sorry for themselves is a virtue, passed on from generations.

But that's just me.

I agree. I can't stand losers who live in new countries, make new lives, have new homes, but still can't let go of the past, 60 years later...and insist on suing for back wages, lost property, lost art, lost insurance policies, etc etc etc.

Its just pathetic. It makes such people look petty and selfish.

Its 2011. Its time to move on.

Yes, those 50,000 Palestinians from Lebanon who drove in buses into Israel (to return the topic) should be allowed to become Lebanese citizens, and finally start to live the rest of their lives and prosper, instead of living in limbo, generation after generation.

yes, as part of a comprehensive Middle East peace agreement, 100,000 or so Palestinian refugees should be allowed to return to Israel as new Israeli citizens, and all others MUST be given citizenship in the countries where they reside.

This thread is dealing with the situation in the former british mandate but there are various right of return campains around the world.

For example the UK has spent the last couple of decades first fighting then ignoring the claims of the native population of Diego Garcia.
