Saturday Night Live has had its share of biting political parodists who helped damage the hopes of presidential contenders, from Chevy Chase to Tina Fey, but did anybody expect the smirking, smarmy, and SLOW Seth Meyers to bring down Donald Trump?

Okay, neither did I, and I hope that Trump realizes that it was Obama, aware of the order he'd given but still able to dig at Trump's "hard" decisions on Celebrity Apprentice, that killed his chances. (ETA: Big O was so cool? Man, he's gangsta! And don't play poker with The Prez.)

Of course, he's far too self-centered for that, so he missed the 1-wood driver to his head that he wasn't ready for the Tour and chose to blame it on Meanies.

I always thought Seth Meyers was pretty funny. Weekend Update is usually my favorite part of SNL and he does a good job. His "Really" segments are funny.

And Trump just gave him too much juicy material to ignore. Giving a comedian that kind of ammo and setting him up in a room where it's all going to go over huge (as a side benefit you get the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES to like you), well it's pretty much like turning a mad dog loose on a pile of steaks.

Seth Meyers didn't bring down Trump. Trump was never up. Trump never had any real chance of winning the GOP nomination. People just have difficulty understanding the significance of polls.

I gained a great deal of appreciation for Seth Meyers that night. Obama was pretty funny, too!
