Anonymous official says we are soon to learn more

A US official tells ABC News that the public will learn more in the next few days about the way officials identified that the corpse of Osama bin Laden, as well as other information gleaned from the trove of date taken from the compound.

The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, had previously said the new information would be provided today but that officials had to push back timing of the release.

After Navy SEALs took photographs of bin Laden, CIA officials used facial recognition analysis to confirm that the man SEALs shot was in fact bin Laden. DNA samples matched those of bin Laden's relatives with 99.9 percent certainty.

President Obama decided against releasing photographs of bin Laden, fearing their graphic and gruesome nature could be inflammatory and put Americans at risk.

The government will also release more information from the computers seized in the raid on bin Laden's compound. Yesterday ABC News reported on evidence of discussions about targeting US rail lines and a possible attack marking the 10th anniversary of 9/11.

No details on DNA yet, but some details about some of the sophisticated biometrics that were used in identification

In other fresh details, it was disclosed that after he was killed the Navy Seals attempted to identify bin Laden by his height, which was 6ft 4in, but were missing the necessary equipment. One member of the team volunteered to lie down next to his body so they could make an estimate.

The FBI wash their hands of the Osama DNA test.

Additionally, the official, who provided the information on the condition he would not be identified, provided more details to prove why the U.S. believes the man they killed is Osama bin Laden.

“DNA analysis conducted separately by the Department of Defense and CIA labs has positively identified Osama bin Laden,” the official stated. Bin Laden’s DNA was compared to a comprehensive DNA profile from his family.

“Based on that analysis, the DNA is unquestionably his. The possibility of a mistaken identity on the basis of this analysis is approximately 1 in 11.8 quadrillion.”

It is almost certain now that no DNA testing was done. The FBI have the responsibility of testing Afghani insurgents and are the nominated agency to deliver samples to in Bagram - I am unsure, but I think these samples are delivered to the US for testing.

If we are now talking about CIA and DoD we are talking about agencies that have no oversight - and almost certainly no overseas labs.

The DNA testing did not happen, it is a farce, but only part of the farce, as he Bin Laden was also supposedly identified by his daugher, and also by 'face recognition software'.

You're looking for the details of the non-existent DNA tests.

How about looking for details of the non-existent interview with the daughter?

Or, better yet, how about the absurdity of ID by 'face recognition software'? That's just for starters, how about the absurdity of using face recognition software on a corpse with half its head blown off? How about looking for the details of this test, the photos used, the points of conformity, etc.?

It's like a three part joke, on us.

Edit: one more thing - anyone with an ounce of skepticism would agree with me. That is what skepticism is about, requiring something more that a unsubstantiated govt. statement to establish the facts.
