Bill Ayers admits he wrote "Dreams From My Father"

All presidents have "passing" acquaintances who likely were closer. Remember George Bush and Ken Lay? Once Lay was in trouble, he hardly knew him.

I understand why the know-nothing right wants to make Ayers a deeper acquaintance (and, who knows, maybe he was), but this has always been a big so what? for me. During the time that Obama has either known him or been his "acquaintance? Ayers has been a rather minor leftest education organizer. His weather underground days were behind him when Obama met him and, in spite of what the right wants to believe, Obama has been anything but a radical...note that the stockmarket is up, the rich are getting their tax breaks, we're continuing to fight George Bush's wars, etc.

So, while I doubt Ayers had anything to do with Obama's book, it is all a big yawn.
 
BAC: btw, is Ayers' alleged anti americanism, leftism, radicalism, worse than, say, Todd Palin who belonged to a party that wanted Alaska to seperate from the United States...i.e. pretty un-American to want to break up America? Or, am I missing something? Sara Palin isn't tainted by sleeping with a anti-American campaigner, but Obama is by serving on the board of an educational organization?

Ayers was a REAL LIFE TERRORIST. He wrote a book that called for the overthrow of the US government. Called for the murder of ordinary Americans. He was murderer who only avoided serving time due to a technicality. He was head of the Weatherman when they bombed government buildings, killing several people. He was head of the Weatherman at the time a bomb they were building in Greenwich Village blew up killing his girlfriend, Diana Oughton, and 2 other Weatherman. The explosion was so powerful that it demolished a large section of the building and literally shredded Oughton's body. After the explosion, police found four more unexploded nail bombs (each 12" in diameter and packed with dynamite) in the rubble along with 57 still unexploded sticks of dynamite. They were building the bombs to kill people at a upcoming military dance. And you want to call his anti-americanism, leftism, and radicalism "alleged"? :rolleyes:

In his book Fugitive Days, Ayers is so dishonest or so deluded that he suggested that Diana Oughton was a victim. He theorized that she set the bomb off to keep them from using the bombs at the dance. But there is no evidence for this AT ALL. NONE. It's simply spin by the same guy who claimed he knew nothing about it as a way of not being directly implicated in it. Claimed he was "in the desert" at the time. But he was head of the Weatherman at the time and the National Review quoted Ayers summarizing the Weatherman's ideology in that timeframe as follows: "Kill all the rich people. Break up their cars and apartments. Bring the revolution home, Kill your parents." Not long before 9/11 Ayers told an interviewer ”I don’t regret setting bombs. I feel we didn’t do enough.” And here you are trying to claim his anti-americanism, leftism, and radicalism are "alleged"? :rolleyes:

And let's not forget that Ayers married Bernadine Dohrn, knowing she was a murderer. She murdered a police officer in the bombing of a San Francisco police station, as well as injured a number of other policemen. And Larry Grathwohl, a former member of the Weatherman Underground testified under oath before a Senate Subcommittee in 1974 that Ayers told him that Dorhn had to plan, develop and carry out the bombing. Ayers was quoted saying the bombing was "a success, but it's a shame when someone like Bernardine Dohrn has to make all the plans, make the bomb, and then place it herself. She should have to do only the planning." And here you are trying to claim his anti-americanism, leftism, and radicalism are just "alleged"? :rolleyes:

The "party" in question is the Alaska Independence Party (AIP). Here's their website: http://www.akip.org/ . The top 2 items in their platform are these: To effect full compliance with the Constitutions of the United States of America and the State of Alaska AND To support and defend States’ Rights, Individual Rights, Property Rights, and the Equal Footing Doctrine as guaranteed by the Constitutions of the United States of America and the state of Alaska. Those don't sound too radical and don't seem to match the way you tried to characterize the party. And neither does their statement that they believe "full compliance with the Constitutions of the United States of America and the State of Alaska is necessary."

And yes, Todd Palin was registered as a member for a number of years (ending in 2002, long before Palin was selected to be a VP candidate). But he never participated in any party activities other than attending a single convention they had in Wasilla ... a convention that nominated the sitting Lt Governor, Jack Coghill. He never built bombs or planned the killing of innocents. Nor was the organization involved in that when he belonged. Unlike Bill Ayers.

And by the way, do you know that the founder of the AIP, Joe Vogler, moved to Alaska before it was a state? And the federal government took his land and mineral claims away without compensation ... and at gunpoint. Did you know that the Alaskan legislature, including Democrats, honored Joe Vogler after his death? But here you are trying to equate him and his party to someone like Ayers, who actually did set off bombs in government buildings. That says volumes about YOU, headscratcher4. :D

So, assuming Ayers met Obama on January 1 and the book was published July 31, that would have, according to the conspiracy theory, given Ayers only 7 months to write the book, submit it to and have it accepted by a publisher, process revisions, and have the books printed and distributed.

That is a remarkable accomplishment and an amazing show of generosity on Ayers' part for someone he had just met.

I think that this entire so-called "conspiracy" is just further proof that certain people would rather judge people by who they know than by their actual actions.

Personally I prefer to judge people by what they actually do. But I guess I'm crazy that way.
