Continuation Part 2 - Discussion of the Amanda Knox case

He also talked a good bit about the evidence this time, how solid it was, how great Stefanoni is, and what a terrific report that Massei put together. If I had read that part of the article without knowing who wrote it I would have picked a few of the regulars at PMF.

Either there are:

1) Relatives of MK eulogizing Meredith.
2) There are appeals to sympathy being made by people with no other valid arguments for guilt.

As far as I know, this is not the place for either.

If John Kercher was a very loving parent, him or at least one menber of the family would have been in court from day one, to the end of the trail.
And not day one and the very last day of the trail.
I hate to say this, all John Kercher can see is lots of pounds, and we use Meredith murder to gain these extra pounds.
If this man was good at what he wrights, he would not be wrigthin freelance, he would be hired by one of the top papers in the UK.
The person that I feel realy sorry for is Meredith mother, but there again it not up to her, it's her husband that controls this sad and bad thing that happens in thier family life
But John Kercher it is time to put the greed aside.
And remenber the love of your life and your family that is Meredith.

The demonisation of the Kerchers in the last page is sickening. They are the only certain victims of this crime and should be accorded some respect. Where's the evidence they are "in it for the money"?

Funny, I could have sworn there were one or two people around here whose justification for believing Knox and Sollecito guilty despite the insanity of the prosecution narrative and the hard evidence falsifying that narrative was more or less "a court found them guilty, so they're guilty to me until another court says otherwise, mere mortals like us cannot know better that a court".

Maybe those people were indeed sad figments of my imagination? That would be nice.

Anyway, if those sad figments do indeed exist, pointing out that the Italian court system has been robustly criticised both by prominent Italians and by the international community might give those sad figments pause.
As a mere mortal unlike those who think they know more I would ask a question, what do you think are the alternatives to the judicial process taking place in Perugia now. In addition, if this case is to be treated differently how would you address the legal precedent this would create in Italy?

Did you read the article?

Is it 45.million euros.
or less?
Lionking prove me wrong.
the keercher family has keeped the lawyer MR Moneybags.
In Italy this is very strange.
This so called lawyer, I want money, buts walks out when Amenda speekes, why?
Do he not want know to the in,s and out of this case.
The facts will help him in a case that he would need to sue.
And by the way? Who,s paying this so good Mr money bags lawyer.
Come back

[...]I think in this case the courts knew they had to keep them locked up because they couldn't have them free to answer questions about what happened, and they knew if Amanda and Raffaele fled no one would extradite them, as that requires evidence, and the last thing they wanted was an official review of the 'evidence' collected against Raffaele and Amanda by a foreign court.[...]

Interesting idea that the courts knew that they could not prove guilt in a foreign court. It seems to correlate to other statements made it the Massei report that suggested that consumption of drugs was the bias that caused the courts to deduce that AK and RS helped Guede.

Is proving guilt in a foreign court necessary for extradition?

Yes I did read the artical.
But I like to point out the JK is full of hate against AK and RC.
But why I do not Know.
In my view he not looking pass the bushes to see the trees, as him being an english man he will know what I mean.
We all greve in diferent ways, I fill very sorry that JK lost a lovely young less thet was made from the love of him and his wife.
But to blame Amanda and Raffaele for some thing that they had nothing to do with them is just plain bad news

I don't have to prove anything as I have not made any claim.

It might be better to write something in your native tongue and get google to translate it, because you are barely comprehensible.

Excellent rebuttal; according to some people world justice doesn’t seem to apply to the person who was murdered or their family!

Bad rebuttal - unless framing and demonizing two innocent families is considered justice.

Much of the MK story ended with the incarceration of Guede. This thread is a discussion of the Amanda Knox case.

The association between MK and the Amanda Knox case is tangential at best, especially if you are of the viewpoint, as are many here, that Amanda Knox is 100% NOT guilty according to the evidence and testimony.

I see it as desperation. It's pretty apparent that AK and RS will lose their appeal and lashing out at the Kerchers is the only way some people can handle it.

Beyond contempt

Some of the responses to Mr. Kercher's article that have been posted here can count as the most sickening that I have seen on the internet.

I shall not attempt at refuting some of the claims that have been made. Suffice to say that anybody coming to JREF for information about this case would be equally horrified by these comments.

I would say he believes Raffaele and Amanda are responsible but he also acknowledges the judicial process, Guede’s involvement has been confirmed. He naturally wants to talk about his memories of his daughter, writes about wanting to move on but not being able to do so whilst the judicial process is taking place and media remain obsessed with Amanda. I believe he also mentioned that financial awards from the trial are symbolic; my interpretation is that he does not expect see any financial gain from his daughters murder.

I understand you and others may not agree with his views, but as I have said he has as much right to speak or write as Amanda and Raffaele’s family’s do.

1.) I see it as desperation.
2.) It's pretty apparent that AK and RS will lose their appeal
3.) and lashing out at the Kerchers is the only way some people can handle it.

Three wrongs don't make a right.

I will admit that should mythology continue be preferred to science, that the appeal could fail. I would hope then that the government of the USA would then pick it up if for no other reason than keeping world justice respected. I would prefer that Italy shows that they have the ability to adjudicate correctly.

I am not framing or demonising anyone nor am I responsible for what is taking place in Perugia. It is reasonable to conclude using your term world justice would also apply to the murder victim and her family, do you dispute this?

I was called out for saying that Amanda and Meredith only knew each other for a week. From page 29 of the Massei report:

At the beginning of September Amanda Knox arrived and said she was interested in living in the house. She had chosen her own room, the one located between Romanelli’s room and the one that would be Meredith’s room.

Amanda Knox had then left to spend a few days in Germany, where she had an aunt. Meredith had arrived after this and also expressed interest in the house [16]. She began to live there in mid--September 2007, occupying the room furthest from the entrance, next to Amanda’s and in front of the small bathroom, the second bathroom of this apartment. It was generally and mostly used by the two girls, Meredith and Amanda.

It appears they knew each other for at least a month and a half. This doesn't change the point I was making, but I was sloppy on this datum. It wasn't even the best way to present my thesis. Sorry...

No dispute. MK and her family got justice with the incarceration of Guede. If only the court had stopped there.

What motivated them to turn accomplishments into horrors is as hard for me to fathom as to figure out what a baboon is thinking.

Perhaps the Guede case was no challenge and thus nothing to brag about. It is more of an accomplishment to put two innocent people behind bars. Well done prosecution! You certainly are winners.

Forse il caso Guede non era e che dunque nulla di cui vantarsi. È più di un risultato di mettere due persone innocenti dietro le sbarre. Ben fatto penale! Sicuramente sono vincitori.

I don't know how the word winner got translated. In english, calling someone "a real winner" isn't always a complement.

a precautionary tale

The questions I asked related to whether this case in particular was different during the investigation, evidence analysis, trial and current appeal. In short can you and others point to other cases that demonstrate that Raffaele and Amanda have been treated differently?

I prefer to discuss what is happening during the appeal as this seems relevant rather than rehashing the trial.

CoulsdonUK,

Last fall Benjamin Sayagh put out a manuscript arguing the illegality of Amanda's precautionary detention. Those arguments are even stronger for Raffaele. I have previously cited Dan Krane as a source on my claim that electronic data files are released in almost all countries, yet they were not released here. If the defense does not have the forensic records, then they cannot prepare a vigorous challenge. The right of discovery should not have been trampled upon in this case, but it was. MOO.

Lionking as we say in good old English.
opps fogot what I was going to say.
May be men at work can say it better, down under, and by gum you are first class.
good day

:D
