Is Obama planning to attack Saudi Arabia?

Sure, he could attack Saudi Arabia, but he could also do a press conference in full clown makeup before proceeding to perform fellatio on Robert Gibbs.

I think the Obama administration is trying too hard too, because China is like a thousand years ahead of them. And don't forget that Japan has very strong friendly ties to China.

What are you on about? China is about a thousand years ahead of the US in what area?
And China and Japan are as close as China and the USA. They're not enemies but they're competitors. The Japanese are trying very hard to buy the same base resources as China.

Good lord... The OP admits up front that he pulled this conspiracy out of his rear and we're on page two of people trying to explain why it smells funny?

What 'deals' would they do with China?

Would China offer them more money for the oil? Why wouldthat make sense when they can get the oil on the world market at the same price as everyone else?

Would the Saudis offer the oil to china for less money? why would that make sense when they can seel it on the world market at the going price?

You haven't thought it through.

Please define "dependent." In 2009, only 10.9% of U.S. crude oil imports came from Saudi Arabia. (In comparison, 21.6% came from Canada and 12.1% came from Mexico.)

This is true. The real value of Saudi oil is that it means less competition for the oil that the US does depend on (namely Canadian, Mexican and Venezuelan).

:eye-poppi:boggled:

Correct. And any other impression of enmity between them is just a charade to fool the gullible western leaders.

I guess the fact that both countries trade more with the US than with each other is part of that charade.

Now that would get him in the history books.

The idea is that the Obama administration hasn't thought it through and instead just preemptively wants to secure the Saudi oil just in case China or someone else would make the situation problematic. Obama behaving totally paranoid. Just like the Bush administration that got really paranoid about Iraq having weapons of mass destruction. That was really crazy. The Bush administration desperately and endlessly shouting weapons of mass destruction until they got their war with Iraq. Just watch the coming weeks how the Obama administration will try to pull a similar stunt with Saudi Arabia. Paranoia run rampant! Again!

But Saddam did have WMD, he used poison gas on the Iranians and then as late as 2002 on the Kurds and Marsh Arabs so the original claims were true. WHen has Saudi Arabia ever claimed to have WMD or even forthat matter, when was the last time they had a war with anyone?

Shortage of resources such as oil and metals could lead to an economic conflict between the U.S. and Asia, and also between the EU and Asia. China has thousands of years of tricky politics experience. Japan also has an old history. The U.S. is young in comparison. Of course, I'm not entirely sure that there is a strong bond between China and Japan among the leaders of those countries, but I strongly suspect there is.

It will not likely be weapons of mass destruction that will be used as an excuse for sending NATO or UN troops into Saudi Arabia. More likely a similar situation as in Libya at the moment, plus a lot of talk about Al CIAda....eh, excuse me, I meant Al Qaeda.

What observable differences are there between a "staged" protest and one carried out by Saudi citizens of their own volition?

The same kind of differences that can be seen between a movie scene and a similar event in real life. Of course, if it's an A class movie, then the movie scene can be very convincing.
