Hard Times Fall on "Da Twoof" Movement

Looks like my local loons have fallen on hard times. In this economy, w/out a degree, and the NWO keeping him down, the leader of koo-koo's in my nest has resorted to pulling a "Beggin Bermas" and started a chip in page. The plea for help is pathetic: http://wearechangesa.chipin.com/help-feedsponsor-wac-sa-organizer-mm

For those who don't wanna leave JREF:

In between jobs the last few weeks, and waiting for employers to call me back, I have spent my time caught up in the V for Victory campaign, editing WAC SA videos, burning DVDs and organizing street actions.. which has left me completely broke.
I am now out of my savings.

I start a new job next week however my phone is about to be shut off and this weeks bills are coming close to the hedge, not to mention i am hungry for food and have 2 dollars to my name.

For 2 years and 8 months I have tirelessly put in so much work and sacrificed so much to keep We Are Change San Antonio operating and functioning.
I have never once sought to selfishly benefit from all the hard work and efforts put forth in keeping our rag tag organization running.

At this time I need those that have followed our work to please bail out/sponsor a broke independent activist for this month.

Thank you so much for help and consideration,
Matthew Medina

I **** YOU NOT! the first comment on the chip-in page is:

WINNING!!!

Their best known celebrity suppoter going Batcrap Crazy and becoming a national joke is a big nail in the coffin.

Imagine the potential employer who googles "Mathew Medina" and discovers he's a truther... it just makes it too easy to pass him by in this economy.

"These Smomomomoooking Guns up here my private delusion fighting the NWO, it may be paranoia but I will find da twoof"

Obvioulsy edited from orginal quote,

Using Truth Movement connections to raise personal money has been around for a long time. Some of these groups are lead by people who are chronically short of money and use their Facebook and Webcasts to solicit money for themselves and family members.
Calling all friends!!! I have a urgent emergency and I need help from anyone who can give. I need to come up with at least $100 today or I am totally screwed. Please message me if you need details. I really need help!

I am now only $100 short for the emergency I was talking about, I need to come up with it before 2pm today. Anyone who could help with anything, I would be so appreciative.

Dear friends. This is an appeal for donations, no matter how small, for my dear Facebook friend's farm and animal sanctuary...To add to her burden, she was recently hit with a $300 speeding fine when she was going at least 5 mph UNDER the speed limit. Carol Grace Butler is a selfless person who gives her all to the planet and she needs some green love in return. $...2 will buy a bail of hay. Every little bit helps. 3,000 people have viewed her page at the link below without a single donation, and she is terribly disheartened and desperate, her faith in humanity at a very low ebb. If you have a few dollars to spare, or if you live in NY and want to buy some fresh from the farm milk, meat, or eggs, please contact Carol or make a donation via Paypal at the page below. Thanks for your compassion. I am going to do the same as soon as I have a few dollars in the bank. This is her Facebook

The list goes on and on...

We Are Change New York is incorporated as a for-profit group, which is how Luke Rudkowski was able to legally take money from the group.

I have often wondered about this. I wouldn't hire one of these nuts, but is it any nuttier than a lot of the ideas that get cloaked as religion or spiritual beliefs? In the study I did, I found that the Truthers who got real jobs tended to disappear from Truth movement communication networks. I have yet to find an active member of We Are Change who has significant employment. Pretty much any of them who have any money are self-employed and all the others that I have surveyed are marginally employed.

I enjoyed your article on this very subject in the latest issue of SKEPTIC and recommend it to everyone here.

Thank you for the kind words. I got a lot of help and support from members of the JREF while I was doing the project, so I appreciate knowing there's interest in this kind of work.

You might try "surveying" more than two members...

But it stands to reason that many of the people who have time to do research and activism are the people who have time---such as yourself, Scott.

In one sense, this is no different from the vast amounts of time that JREF bedunkers seem to have at their disposal, that they can lounge around here waiting for the next post to pounce on, or starting inane threads out of sheer boredom.

In another sense, though, it's quite a bit different. :D

Actually, you post far more than I do.

The study that I reported on in my paper surveyed 111 members of WAC. This included a random survey of one chapter and a count of about half the people who attended the 2009 memorial demonstration on 911/NYCCAN demonstration a few days later - almost all the people marching in the two events were the same people. You can read about this in the paper.

Since then, I have continued gathering data on 911 Truth groups and have information on hundreds, perhaps thousands, of members as well as other political supporters of the idea. I don't know how many people I've counted, but it's a lot.

And like most JREF members, I'll keep doing this as long as the Illuminati pays me, or I'm abducted by one of their alien servants and held in a subterranean city. Maybe they'll offer me a job using HAARP to kill black birds or sardines.

If I didn't dislike the guy so much, I'd feel bad reading that. I've tried reasoning with the dude, but the ad homs started almost immediately. I have been a little less than patient but these guys accused me of some pretty nasty and totally unsubstantiated things.

Exactly my point. You have the time to do this. Out of all the other things you could be doing, you choose this. Interesting.

And we know no one's paying you. :D

Actually, I do a lot of things. I have a black belt in judo and belts in other martial arts. And, as you know, I am finishing off a PhD. I have a lot of energy. This is just a distraction. I just wrote a book about Taiwan history, and it was far more work than watching Truthers.

You could probably do as much work if you don't watch TV or movies. They soak up so much time and you get nothing done. My wife made me buy a TV a few years ago, but I hardly ever watch the thing.

Lol at the guy begging for money. They are so incredibly pathetic. I am curious how much longer it will be until all of these little groups fizzle out.
