Iran threatens to boycott olympics over "racist" logo

Are these guys taking lessons from Charlie Sheen ... or is it the other way around?

Cue Charlton Heston getting hosed: It's a Mad House! ... a Mad House!!!

I can't call them too crazy since my first reaction upon seeing it was "what is ZOIN"? Then I thought it was "ZOIZ".

At least we do not have to worry about a Iran vs Iraq final in anything.

My prediction is that once the Olympics start this logo will not be seen.

The story here.

The only response I could think of is:
:goat
:bunpan

and

:sdl:

OK that sucks at least as badly as one I cannot remember details of but within the last 20-25 years. Talentless hackwork. Pathetic graphic design (I read Graphis on and off and like Graphic Arts - I find this one abysmal). IF Iran had complained on aesthetic grounds, I could have bought it - who would want to wear that pin design!!:jaw-dropp ? BUT even so, and as poor as it is, I can tell it matches 2012 better than Zion/ZION. Iran bites it again.

Iran's response to the logo is pretty crazy; I give it a 4.5 on the guanometer.

However, I have to say the gold medal goes to the IOC, for spending $650,000 on that colossally ugly piece of crap.

Looks like a doodle someone did in their notebook while not paying attention at a meeting. It's simplistic, looks like caveman font and it's frankly ugly. Interpreting this logo as ZION is off the charts on the nut-o-meter.

I wonder how much of that should go to Matt Groening.

It's a crap logo. i don't even understand how it is a "logo" it looks like a bunch of boxes.

How is that a logo?

And I guess now that they see it as Zion they can't "unsee" it as well.

Of course it says ZION ... I mean, it's right there in front of you. That's what the little box in the middle is for; it's dotting the I. Why else would it be there?

(Any bets that it will change by the time the Olympics begin?)

I don't get what it's supposed to symbolize. I can see why they'd think it says Zion because wtf else does it mean?

Clearly, the Iranian regime is intent on proving to the world they are as crazy as everyone who has ever had any dealings with them says they are.

And dyslexic.

So, if they ever have a nuclear football, they can't use codes. They'll never get them straight. Their nuclear football will have to have buttons with engraved symbols on them, to remind them which buttons to push when they're ready for the 7th Imam to come.

The button with the with the mushroom cloud. Then the one with the black skull. Then the one with the picture of the 7th Iman. Simple. A monkey could do it.

^^^ This

By the way, I for one am (not in the least bit) upset that I won't be able to watch the usual version of Olympic erotica (women's gymnastics) with the Iranian jail bait performing.

'Scuse me while I fart in the general direction of the IOC and Iran at the same time. Easy to do, from this side of the pond.
