Because what innocent 15 year old doesn't go to Afghanistan to hang out with daddy's Taliban buddies during a war?
I'm sure he'll be a model citizen of Canada when he returns.Hanging out with daddy's Taliban buddies during a war isn't the officially-offered reason for torturing and imprisoning this child.
Are you happy with his treatment, WildCat?
I think this thread is missing a few tags like, treasonous, and murderer.
please don't allow a lack of courage stop you from answering.....the simple question was if you were happy with his treatment.I'm sure he'll be a model citizen of Canada when he returns.
I am all for torturing terrorist scumbags who definitly have information like KSM.
You are smarter than this.
You are smarter than this.
And then it just so happened daddy's buddies suddenly joined the Taliban 3 seconds prior to Khadr meeting up with them. I bet he was just about to skedaddle when they decided to shoot at the evil American soldiers who were probably there to rape and enslave the women. He was raised by parents and circumstances that took him to Afghanistan. He didn't "go to hang out with daddy's Taliban buddies" as WC describes it. His parents raised him there. It just so happens he was born in Canada and spent time in Canada as well as Pakistan and Afghanistan.

are you?
During his brief statement, which was not under oath or subject to cross examination, Khadr, now 24, said his eight years in prison had taught him "the beauty of life".
Khadr et al denied being combatants, then opened fire when troops moved in to search the house. That's not murder. It's war. Again, ignoring for the moment that he's a minor, as a person living in Afghanistan at the time of the US invasion of Afghanistan, he has the right, under Article 2 (Annex to the Convention) of the Hague Convention for the Laws of War on Land (1907), to take up arms to fight the Americans.
Khadr et al denied being combatants, then opened fire when troops moved in to search the house.
You don't get to claim not to be a combatant, then suddenly you are a combatant whenever it suits your purpose. Note he was charged with murder in violation of the laws of war.
From the wiki article:That's not how the Wikipedia article recounts the incident. According to wikipedia, the military surrounded the houses (observing that there were armed men at the site), told the occupants to surrender, and the occupants opened fire on them, initiating a firefight. Also according to Wikipedia, no one saw him specifically, at all until after he'd killed the US soldier. Do you have a reliable source for an alternative sequence of events?
Reinforcements from the 3rd Platoon of Bravo Company, 1st Battalion 505th Infantry Regiment arrived under the command of Captain Christopher W. Cirino, bringing the total number of Americans and Afghan militia to about fifty. Two of Zadran's militiamen were sent into the compound to speak with the inhabitants, and returned to the Americans' position and reported that the men inside claimed to be Pashtun villagers. They were told to return to the huts, and inform the occupants that the Americans wanted to search their house regardless of their affiliation. Upon hearing this, the occupants of the hut opened fire, shooting both militiamen.
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/04/24/terror/main2723020.shtmlKhadr's Egyptian-born father, Ahmad Said al-Khadr, was killed in Pakistan in 2003 alongside some senior al Qaeda operatives and Canada is holding his brother Abdullah on a U.S. extradition warrant accusing him of supplying weapons to al Qaeda.
In a documentary by the Canadian Broadcasting Corp., another brother, Abdurahman, acknowledged their father and some of his brothers fought for al Qaeda and stayed with the terrorist group's mastermind, Osama bin Laden.
