There was actually an interesting thread on the Dallas forum of certain website which I won't name because of course I'd never visit that kind of site coughcoughPMmecoughcough which discussed just such a ... camaraderie get together with several young ladies whom I may or may not even know.

After perusing some of likely's threads I have come to the conclusion that he is a troll under deep cover.

I worked out that the ALSEPs returned on the order of thirty gigabits of data from the Moon until their decomissioning in 1977.

I have the kernel of a decent SF short story involving an astronaut stranded on the lunar Earthside with night approaching. A rescue mission can't reach him for a couple of weeks, and his life-support won't make it through the lunar night, but fortunately he happens to be within walking distance of the Apollo 17 site. Will the SNAP-27 have enough heat left after its fuel has been decaying for several decades...?

This is going to be a silly question...but what does ALSEP mean?

After reading it....it seems the only experiment/package still working is the mirrors. Were the other experiments/packages suppose to work for a long period of time? :boggled:

They could have worked for a very long time but they were shut down partially due to budgetary constraints and the Deep Space Network needing their big antennas for the Pioneer, Voyager, etc, missions.
