Merged 'Loose Change' filmmaker arrested

The details are preliminary but this seems to be different, they were about 165 miles from the Bronx. It is unlikely a 19 year-old Latino from NYC knew many people in the town of about 14,000 people less 4% of whom are Latino. And Marte had $6400 on him suggesting he'd already sold quite a bit of smack.

My guess is that Rowe is a user and scored from Marte when he was in NYC and then had the brilliant idea to bring the dealer up to sell to people he knew upstate.

Another aspect is that accoding to Google Maps the drive between the Bronx and Oneonata is slightly shorter and quicker through NJ which could make them eligible for federal charges.

There is also S.U.N.Y. Oneonta up there. A lot of students from downstate go to that school. A popular alternative name for it is "Stoneonta" (for good reason lol). Might explain the film and the demand for hardcore drugs.

Google maps doesn't take into account the hell on Earth known as the Cross Bronx Expressway (I95 to the GW Bridge). It's about 7 miles that will make you feel like Rumpelstiltskin by the time you get to the end of it. Then you're in Jersey.... ick lol.

The fastest way (avoiding traffic) upstate and towards Oneonta is I87 to the Tappan Zee then probably to Rt17 (The Quickway). That way takes you within a few miles of NJ but you never actually cross the border. If he used an EZ-Pass it would tell for sure, though.

LCF is a ghost town.

You mean it would be a ghost town if the Ghosts didn't leave as well. ;)
However, as far I remember Korey wasn't that much involved in that whole Loose Change hype anyway, am I right?

Am originally from that part of NY (Utica about 40 miles north)

SUNY Oneonta was regarded as something of a joke - Said that it raised the
finest gym and kindergarten teachers in the state.....

Yup, that's pretty much how people see it down this way too. It was always known as a big party school. Higher learning just not in the traditional sense lol.

While I dislike the guy intensely for his lies to the world, I would wait to pass judgment in this case until he's had a trial. If he's found guilty I'll join you guys in cracking jokes.

I lol'd.

I grew up in NYC but never heard of it till Rowe got arrested. On the local paper message board someone claimed to have been a prof of Rowe’s at “SUCO” apparently it’s official name is S.U.N.Y. College at Oneonta From what you and NJ Slim said in other posts I guess it’s a dump. My friends and relatives who went the route went to Albany, Binghamton or Stony (aka Stoner) Brook

My dad lived in Riverdale so I remember the “joys” of the Cross Bronx from going to LI. I don’t remember it being much worse than the Deegan.

The White Pages lists a Dan Marte in University Heights (University Av) and a Daniel A. Marte in the South Bronx (Bolton Av). I don’t know if either is the Daniel Marte Jr. arrested with Rowe (or his father). Both locations are pretty close to the Washington Bridge which is only ½ mile from the GWB. I remember taking the GWB when going from Manhattan to Bear Mountain but the person driving might not have taken the fastest route and perhaps Marte and Rowe were smart enough NOT to cross state lines twice when they had a good amount of smack in the car.

This might be his MySpace page it is from a Daniel Marte, 19, from the Bronx. He listed “base ball player” as his occupation but there are no photos or videos of him playing/in uniform or mention of what team.

OK...but I don't think that answers why bond is 2x as much as cash.
IIRC (IAMAL), the bondsman promises to pay if he don't show up. He (bondsman) doesn't actually put out any money, unless the guy disappears.
So you can pay a bondsman 2K, where he promised 20K if you don't show, or pay 10K out of your own pocket.

I know a couple "bail bondsman". You'd be much better off to pay 10g's than to screw them for 2 g's.

Just saying.

:boxedin:

Yup. They don't mess around.
There's fear & stupid all around you!
Google & YouTube sure are fuuun!
Loose Change didn't payoff like you thought now,

If you run please run to Hawaii so the Dog can track you down, because that show would be funny as hell with Dog all like " 9/11... inside Jo... you're an idiot brah! You need Jesus brah. Smoke brah?"

Cuz he's the Dog. The big bad Daawg...

The bounty hunter!

Bow-now-now...

Ha ha ha

SOme bail bondsmen are known to be members of a Certain Italian American Fraternal Organization. Messing with them is really, really, bad, if you value your legs and kneecaps....
Or they're ex-marines that found out how to make a buck by being "bad-ass".

Yeah I had a bunch of friends go to all those. The Oneonta crowd (for the most part) picked the choold for it's party time rep. lol

Ah the Deegan can be good or it can be a nightmare. South of the CBE you might get into trouble, especially if the Yankees are having a game at that time. But once you get north of 95/GWB it's usually smooth sailing except for tolls or rest stop breaks. GWB is just begging for more heartbreak after surviving The Bronx. The Cross Bronx is almost always a nightmare, regardless of direction or time of day. I am always shocked when I get from one end to another without dropping below 40 (I take it a lot doing service work in NYC, LI, Westchester, Rockland, NJ, Eastern Ct).

Remember the Deegan is the closest Highway to the GWB that crosses 95. If you're in the west side of the Bronx, both are options. I would expect the kid from the Bronx to know which might be faster, maybe not, he may not drive. I wouldn't expect Rowe to know and he may have followed the Google Maps way too.

Yeah that's the arse way around to Bear Mountain to the Garden State PKWY to 87 to I think it's exit 16 or 17 to Bear Mountain. The way I would always go is the Bronx River Parkway which becomes the Taconic Parkway to the Bear Mountain Parkway through Peekskill (of "The Facts Of Life" fame) into the park.

It would have been interesting if he listed it as "Horse Jockey". lol

Hahahaha, listen to this excuse left by "brotherguerilla" on the dailymail article.

Korey Rowe was honorably discharged from the US Army after doing a tour in Iraq. He disagreed with the war and policies that were forced upon his unit. 85% of PTSD sufferers use drugs/alcohol to repress and escape. Anyone with an idea of how powerfully addictive Heroin is, knows one can slip into this "situation" very easily. Do Not Judge This Man!!! His work on "loose change" is brilliant.

LOL, the "truth" cult is desperate to defend their beloved prophets. Is it even true that he has PTSD? I mean, not everyone in Iraq saw action.
