Continuation Part 2 - Discussion of the Amanda Knox case

another example of a false confession

Here is a link to the story of Jerry Hobbs. I found this quote to be germane: "The wrongful imprisonment and five-year pretrial custody of Hobbs is like a textbook case study of institutional inertia. Once a case starts moving in a specific direction, it is nigh impossible to redirect it toward a new path. It takes on a momentum of its own."

And Disco buses were Running back and forth there?

Well isn't that what the appeal is supposed to find out? The disco owners and bus operators will testify as to how the system works. I think it's beyond arrogant for people to say they know with 100% certainity there were no disco buses running that night and know with 100% certainity it's impossible to get the city, tourist and disco buses confused with each other.

Obviously there is confusion over the bus issue, if there wasn't it wouldn't be in the appeal.

Isn't that what the prosecution should have investigated before having Curatolo change his story? It seems the only confusion is that the police didn't bother investigating to see whether the buses even ran. Apparently the defense did and now have proof.

What proof? When did the bus and disco people testify?

There's no 'confusion'. None at all. The prosecution's homeless drug dealer star witness was caught out in a lie. That's all that's happened here.

Curatolo already admitted to Frank he was wrong about the buses but the prosecution will try to cloud the issue with there were discos open and they were buses in the city, even if the two were not connected and there was no crowd of students getting on the buses to go to a disco.

Great! Now, do you happen to know how far from Grimana would it be?

Rudy would have been coming from his apartment (after changing), not Grimana.

Domus may or may not have disco buses, I don't know. Do you? First we are told by the pro-innocence folks that all the discos were closed that night. That turned out to not be the case. Now we are being told there were no disco buses around Grimana.

Sorry, I'll wait to hear from the bus and disco people, I doubt any of them have an agenda.

I've proven my point to the lurkers and fencesitters.

1. The discos weren't all closed.
2. No one has presented any evidence that there were no buses in that area that night.

You've proven to me that you are stubbornly arguing a straw man of your own invention. From a member of the Peanut Gallery* on this issue: Give it up. You've lost.

*not a disco in Perugia or anywhere else AFAIK

I think that is exactly what is going to happen. I do think though that the testimony of the bus and disco people will help clear the confusion. I'm sure photographs of the different buses will be shown.

What confusion? There is none. The only person claiming to be confused is you, and i don't believe for a second that you are genuinely confused.

Raffaele appeal page 94:

Also, please note that on one hand the presence of Curatolo the morning of 2 November can not be confirmed by the statements of Ceccarelli;
the other, the ruling did not consider that the bus service for
dancing that day was not provided (as stated ex 391 bis cpp
the texts and Pucciarini Brughini).

I think Ceccarelli was the kiosk owner who testified that Curatolo was on a bench next to her kiosk when she opened on the morning of November 2.

Does anyone know if Ceccarelli or Rosignoli (another kiosk owner) testifed to whether they knew of disco buses running (or not) the night of November 1 to early morning November 2?

They wouldn't have been able to since the kiosks close at 8 pm.

Perhaps not to direct knowledge of seeing (or not seeing) buses themselves.

Rosignoli testified to the general time that the buses for the discos are at Piazza Grimana (between 23:00-23:30) but I do not know if he was asked directly about buses for November 1-2.

Isn't direct knowledge of seeing or not seeing buses kind of important if people with no connection to the discos or the buses are going to be witnesses?

It would be a beautiful thing if after Amanda and Raffaele are released the three families forgive eachother, realize who is to blame and join forces to sue the PANTS off of everyone involved in the debacle. ALL of them !

I have always felt that the Kerchers would probably be the first in line to speak with Amanda's and Raffaele's family should they be proven not guilty of murdering their daughter. However I can't understand why the Knox/Mellas or Sollecito families have never written a single letter of condolance, telling the Kerchers they feel so sorry for their terrible loss but that thay believe in their daughter's/son's innocence and that they hope the court proves it and the Kerchers eventually believe it too. It wouldn't have hurt.

It's a bit of an insult not to have reached out if they really believe in Amanda and Raffaele's innocence. I think the Kerchers did not have their minds made up until the trial was over and even then they were possibly not absolutely convinced, they just accepted the verdict. They could have been an advocate for stronger evidence or independant reviews etc. if the two accused's families had reached out to them.
