Continuation Part 2 - Discussion of the Amanda Knox case

Thanks. Google is getting worse by the day and the rest are poor as well, imo. I am really peeved they removed the date range to narrow your search with and the archive seems to have gone AWOL as well. The problem is the subject of the picture. How many people are going to take a picture of a plain white bus and label it Perugia disco bus then post it saying you got to see this cool bus we rode to the club in? LOL.

There are probably pictures somewhere relating to Perugian night life, dancing, clubs and disco's, etc that have a disco bus in the picture, will take more patience than I have tonight however.

Well, there might be, but don't hold your breath! I think it's more likely that the most that the clubs' websites will do is advertise that such aservice exists (although when I looked at the relevant clubs' sites a while back, I don't recall seeing even that). One thing I can be totally sure of, though, is that the buses used by the discos can in no way be confused with the municipal buses - which are yellow and blue, and which carry abundant logos and advertising.

To all,

Concerning low template DNA profiling Bruce Budowle wrote, “Forensic DNA typing has been labeled the gold standard of forensic science (14,25). The methodology has been demonstrated to be robust, reproducible and reliable. In contrast, LCN typing has not been well developed and applied appropriately. Moreover, the validation studies do not comport with protocols, assumptions for calculating the weight of the evidence are in question, and the scientific literature recommendations are not necessarily in concert with practices. It would be a shame to abandon the standards in place for forensic DNA typing just to push the envelope with LCN typing.”

Let's not lose track of the elephant.

What does Amanda's DNA on the double DNA knife mean?
Nothing. Nada. Absolutely nothing.

What does Meredith's DNA on the double DNA knife mean?
I don't know and nobody should guess.

What does Raffaele's DNA on the bra clasp mean?
It means they were trying to frame Raffaele.

All the science in the world doesn't mean anything if it can't mean anything!

You say, "you really do know", then you present zero evidence to back up your claim.

And yes, if you want anyone to believe that the buses were different then just present evidence that the buses were different!

How about photos of the buses taken anytime in 2007?

Actually, should you not be the one proving what your saying. The defense is the one making the claim and apparently have enough evidence to make that claim. They have dedicated a portion of the appeal to those buses. So by people repeating the defenses claims, then it should be you trying to refute it. The defense has the evidence or they wouldn't be trying to discredit him. If they didn't have enough evidence to discredit Curatolo's statement, then the prosecution wouldn't be trying to bring him back to the stand to explain it differently. So maybe your the one that needs to find photo's to prove your theory.

Good find. This disco is in Perugia. It uses buses. The disco Rudy went to on November 1 was also in Perugia. Are they so far from each other?

Etoile54 is not in Perugia. It's one of the big out-of-town discos outside Perugia, near to Montebello (about four or five miles outside Perugia). It was closed on 1st November 2007. It had no buses running to it on 1st November 2007.

This is all getting a bit tiresome. To repeat:

Some clubs/bars/discos in central Perugia (e.g. Velvet, Domus): open on 1st Nov 2007

All out-of-town clubs/discos (which use shuttle buses): closed on 1st Nov 2007.

Clear now?

BTW, for any UK peeps, there's a documentary about the Monster of Florence case on the "Crime & Investigation" satellite/cable channel next Sunday (6 Feb) at 10pm. I'll be skyplussing it, since I've been coerced(!) into hosting a Superbowl party....

No it's not in Perugia.

You really think it takes a bus ride to get from Piazza Grimana to the Domus club? You don't see it's nonsense?

Are you asking for the use of common sense? We wouldn't be arguing over the Knox/Sollecito conviction if the court had used common sense.

some problems with the forensics

Do you have more information on this? Thanks in advance.

Alt+F4,

Some examples off the top of my head are the lack of glove changing that Bruce documented at IIP, not opening up the knife, and not testing a stain that might be semen. However, I have previously commented on sample 164 on the previous thread. Charlie's list of selected DNA results said:

Rep. 164 Blood from wall of bedroom Not tested because of negative preliminary (quantification) result.

Note that this sample was apparently blood, yet the [DNA] quantification was negative, and the examination was discontinued. The knife tested negative for blood, yet the DNA test was done anyway. This bit of forensic bias could have been avoided simply by taking more knives into custody and testing them.

Halides, something I've always been fuzzy on and the answer may be buried in here somewhere... but do we know how many knives from the cottage were tested? I know of that photo of the cottage knives laid out, but were they all DNA tested?

1. Bruce Fisher says that there were no discos open on November 1, 2007. False.
2. Witnesses saw RG in a disco on November 1, 2007, in Perugia. You have no evidence that a bus did not stop at that location.
3. You concede that some discos were open on November 1, 2007.
4. You insist that no disco buses were operating on November 1, 2007 but present no evidence of this.
5. No one on this forum has seen any evidence regarding the differences between the city, tourist or disco buses as they were in 2007.

Yes, it is quite tiresome that you provide zero evidence for your claims.

Clear now?

What year taxi is that?

utensils

Malkmus,

I have never seen a complete list of what was taken into evidence. However, I believe that just one knife was taken from Sollecito's flat. They should have taken other utensils (knives or otherwise) as substrate controls, IMO. They also should have taken knives from the girls' flat.

light rail

I recall that Seattle declined to name a park after its sister city of Perugia. One hears a good deal about light rail. Maybe a light rail line could be named for Perugia instead.

In Italy? In Perugia?

Seriously, was my statement that hard to understand? The place in question claims to be in Perugia, yet another person tells you its actually outside of Perugia. Thats how the world works outside of major cities like New York City. Did you actually think the club would claim to be in Rome if it was located outside the city in Perugia?

It's either in Perugia or it's not. Which is it?
