Merged Discussion of the moon landing "hoax"

My dear Wolf, I have it on such excellent authority that the Moon Landings are a poorly executed fake (and they certainly appear that way when you look at the materials produced) that you are simply wasting your breath.

I have said it before and I say it again, I don't want to "make a case" or prove anything. In fact, I have explicit instructions not, explicit instructions regarding non-interference in human affairs, explicit instructions regarding the rights to self-governance - no matter how lunatic that government may be. We are allowed a little leeway to indulge in some occasional good natured ribbing in small pockets of the internet we know are exclusively populated by Illuminati or people who's minds are so burned out it doesn't matter.

As for ham radios - while I don't know the details of what amateurs could hear and what they couldn't - would it not be possible that this could be the result of transmissions from earth bouncing off.....what do you people think it bounces of again......the name slips my mind.....well the thing that radio waves bounce off.

I think Matt will say that could not be the case with Parkes, but it might, I tentatively suggest, work for the ham radio enthusiansts - simply a function of the radiowave bouncing thingy up above, doing what it does best....bouncing radiowaves in its inimitable way.

I put it no more strongly than that.

Congratulations, LGR. You've just become only the third person I've ever put on "ignore."

All excellent suggestions but I am afraid of about interest to me as the rules of Quidditch. If you want to make your points here I will read them, whether on Quidditch or Moonbounce, but as I said before my handlers say there are bigger fish to fry.

Handlers? Why doesn't that surprise me?

It's the all encompassing excuse for not providing proof of anything for those who don't want to use religion as their crutch.

So basically nothing anyone will ever say will convince you of anything you haven't already convinced yourself of?

Since I am on the fence on whether we went to the moon or not.....I was wondering who told you the moon landing was a fake?

Wow wow wow

I think I am going to move onto other more umm stable threads. If any real Moon hoax people turn up, I would be happy to play...but not this

All I was asking Little Grey Rabbit...who his source was.

I have to say that yes i'm on the fence about this topic but I have also been doing some reading that was graciously suggested by some people on this board.

You are making a claim that they were either in on it or fooled, so let's eliminate fooled first.

If they couldn't have been fool it leaves two options, Apollo was real, or the Australians were in on it too.

So were a lot of other people, including folks from Chile, Bermuda, the Bahamas, Mexico, and Spain, where ALSEP data was received for years.

In one case your supposed conspriacy is about to start growing expotentially as we're going to have to add in every amatuer ham radio operator that listened in, and every radio telescope that did as well, including the Soviets.

So I suggest you start making your case instead of waving your hands in the breeze.

Don't hold your breath. You do realize you're arguing with someone who not only doesn't know anything about Apollo, or spaceflight in general, but also appears to be, well, a couple tacos short of a combination plate? Hint: the Ignore feature is your friend.

Your open-mindedness and willingness to research the topic are much appreciated.

You might also want to check out Bad Astronomy and Universe Today's Conspiracy Theories forum. Probably at least half the posters in this thread are or have been regulars there. You might find some of the current and older threads informative. You'll also find the incomparable Jay Windley (JayUtah) there.

Gypseagirl I was not reflecting on you :) But some of Rabbits language choices have (in my mind) become disturbing.

I just want to register my amusement at how little grey rabbit went from this..

Notice the way the shadow of the

Module falls and the shadow of the large crater to the right?
Now go to google/moon

Magnify the Apollo 11 site up to the highest or second highest level.

On the bottom is a strip of photos, the position of photos 15 and photo

16 is marked on the image. You can look at photos 15 and 16 and see

the shadow is on the other side of the crater.

So in answer to your question either the ground shots are fake or the

LRO image is fake or both are fake. But they can not both be genuine.

...to this:

I have said it before and I say it again, I don't want to "make a case" or prove anything
