You're right and there are easier ways to make money on the Internet. Nigerian email scam anyone?

Very true. If Maresca is paying people, he isn't getting much for his money. He should have hired Marriott.

I think Maresca has been very successful in creating the illusion of the little guys against the imaginary Knox PR juggernaut. Also I can't think of anyone in recent years who has been more successfully publicly vilified than Amanda Knox.

The prosecution's PR has been highly effective and continues to be so. Look how quickly they were able to plant that newspaper story about cocaine dealers after the Curatolo debacle.

Oh no you did not just go there. ;) Describe a Seattle accent for me.

I think the issue has been a cross-over from the very beginning. Many of Amanda's most avid supporters do not place themselves on the political left; they are motivated by other aspects of the case than politics. Many of her detractors do place themselves on the left -- although perhaps only for this particular issue -- that's why they keep playing the race card and the class card.

Well I think her detractors are mainly foreign. That being said they are definitely RWA (right wing authoritarian, authoritarian submissives) in their social orientation. That correlates in the USA with Republicans pretty strongly but not exclusively particularly among ethnic minorities. I don't know England well enough to know their politics on those social / ethnic grounds.

As for Amanda's supporters, can you name a strong supporter of her's that is actively on the right?

My take on the Lifetime producers and cast "not being able to figure it out" is that it is a publicity come-on to get viewers to watch the movie and "find out what happens." The fact that they are following the movie with a documentary of the facts is a pretty strong clue as to what their feelings are about the verdict. Is Hayden Panetierre going to play a villain?

It would be great if Lifetime comes out this openly in her favor. Its interesting you ask the question about the villain. I had the same debate with Peter Q where he argued playing a villain would be bad for Hayden. I had a feeling that Lifetime was going to be doing a pro-Amanda show from the start and that Mignini or Rudy would be the villain, given their brand even more. Once I saw the trailer I had the same feeling. I agree having the family on after reinforces that they are coming up innocent.

But.... that being said I think it would be great for Hayden to play a villain. Think Sarah Michelle Gellar and Cruel Intentions. Just imagine having Hayden play the PMF version of Amanda.... She obsesses over her dark rape fantasies and once away from her parents start engage in reckless sex. She sexual seduces a nerdish comic book fan and wraps him around her finger. She gets a local drug dealer whose hot for the 1/2 indian chick that lives with her to come up. She gets everyone worked up into a rape fantasy all the while cajoling and threatening the two men. During the trial her little leaks "I don't think Raffaele killed Meredith, maybe he's just scared like I am" keep them in line.

Oh it would be great for Hayden's career. Villains are so much more fun than heroes. And Hayden has already done a movie playing teenage seductress so we know she can pull that off. Not Lifetime's brand so its not going to happen but... nah I could picture Hayden jumping at that role.

That is funny. Poor wittle Italy versus big bad Amanda!

You can buy a lot of spamming for not that much money. Harry Rag comes across like a paid spammer to me. Also, you haven't dealt with the issue of why there is such a strong tendency to minimise Rudy's role, both by Maresca's team, in articles published by John Kercher, and in places such as PMF. Why would anybody want to do that? There's only one sensible explanation in my view.

Could it be that Rudy's case is settled? He has no more appeals, he's not getting out of prison for a long time. He's not controversial, no one doubts his guilt.

Again, I think it goes back to both the irrationality of the guilters and to "political" affiliations (so to speak). If the guilters hate on Rudy, they can't play the race card against the innocenters, without looking hypocritical.

I agree, you have a good point. What about going after Rudy's foster/adoptive father, though? Isn't he well-to-do?

It's an interesting question that deserves exploration. At bottom we may find that many guilters hate women even more than they hate blacks. Or maybe they are so racist they assume blacks should be expected to commit rape/murders, so for Rudy to do it is not as "wrong" as for Amanda and Raffaele to do it.

How is it legally possible to go after the assets of a parent of someone who committed a crime when they were over age 18?

Rudy is broke, Amanda is broke and I've seen no evidence of this "2 million euros" left to Raffaele by his deceased mother.

Authoritan submissives! HA! That is funny. BDSM is reality, isn't it?

Maybe Amanda could negociate her freedom in exchange for participating in a movie suitable to guilter preferences. Amanda would be above that, but not the guilters who love to throw verbal stones.

Sure its a weird thing. The attitude towards Rudy proves the guilters have always been focused on the annihilation of Amanda not the punishment of Meredith's killers. That's what motivated Mignini. Alt+F4 above can't bring herself to say that Rudy got sentenced to much less time than AK or RS, 14 years. He got 1/2 the years they did. They feel bad for him, Rudy is collateral damage in going after Amanda.

My take is that Rudy is not close enough to Meredith to form a dichotomy. This whole thing is psychological and has nothing to do with criminal justice.

You should really do some research on why Rudy received the sentence he did. It doesn't fit in at all with your conspiracy theory.

Mary can anyone actually go after the parents of the three accused? They were not under legal age when accused of the murder of Meredith so I don't see how any of their families can be responsible financially for their actions if they are indeed guilty.

Wasn't part of Rudy's judgment compensation (of the same amount as Amanda and Raffaele) to the Kerchers?

You make a good point about the cocaine dealers. That was fast.

Did you read the editorial by the kid from Harvard, though? He (with an opinion no doubt fed by media) seems to believe that "Amanda is innocent" has become the more popular approach.

Amanda was successfully publicly vilified. However, U.S. broadcasters, at least, are not giving any air time to guilter experts these days, if there are any guilters out there with the nerve to call themselves experts.

Good questions, christianna, that I don't know the answers to.

Fast track trial plus he is said to have shown remorse for his crime. He showed no such thing, he claimed he regretted not saving Meredith after a mysterious stranger (later Raffaele) stabbed her.

The reality is that his DNA was left inside her and he admitted walking out of the cottage knowing she was dying. For this crime he will do 7 years in prison.

Mary

I might have this all wrong. Guede has had his final appeal and the conviction and sentence has been confirmed, is that correct? Do you know whether the either defence teams plan to call Guede to the witness stand? Is Guede playing any active role in Amanda and Raffaele appeals? Do you have any information of the contents of Guede’s final motivational report? Do you believe Raffaele and Amanda defence teams should be spending their time attacking Guede during the appeal? Just trying to understand how commenting on Guede helps Amanda and Raffaele’s appeal.

I have a theory as to why the major media in the U.S. have not taken a pro-guilty stance. They know that eventually Amanda will do an interview and by staying in good with the Knox/Mellas' they have a better chance of getting that interview.

I don't blame the Knox/Mellas' for going with this approach. After all, they are not the ones accused of murder and they do have two other children to think of. They are entitled to get back at least part of the money they have spent on Amanda's defense.

For this crime he will do 7 years in prison.

What are the laws in Italy involving parole for murder and time off for good behavior? He's a violent killer so you have no logical reason to believe he would be a model prisoner.

He's projected to be out on probation by 2014. I think Rudy prefers women as targets for violence, so opportunities are limited in prison.
