The Skeleton Key to Mystical Interpretation

This good mind has been to Ali's Balti and acheived Tarka Dhall. I've wrapped my digestive tract around things you can't begin to imagine and I'm almost finished. So if you want to consider wasting cash and time, I suggest getting out more.

This good mind has been to turiya and achieved Jivanmukta, thank you very much. I've seen and wrapped my mind around things you can't even begin to imagine, and I'm just getting started. So if you want to consider wasted minds and wasted time, I suggest you start closer to home.
In my opinion you've been nowhere and achieved nothing outside the illusion that you have done something worthwhile. I personally prefer to limit my mental efforts to things concrete. That is if you don't mind.

If your efforts, philosophys and rituals give you happiness I guess its ok but your time would be better spent studying some down to earth subject matter that will prepare you to make an honest decent living.

I don't mind. Maybe we could live and let live? Lets make a deal. First, you dissolve the organized skeptic activism social movement, which is a rabid attack dog that needs to be put down. Then I will quit trying to stop you from wasting your soul. Deal?

I once had a dream that a hamburger was eating me.

No I reject that deal in the name of science, reason and the skeptics war on superstitious nonsense.

There are better ways for science, reason and the skeptics to conduct the search for truth than by unleashing rabid attack dogs. Sure they can search, but they don't spare babies in bathwater. And when your dogs return from their grim "search", all you see is a bloody muzzle.

I'm not attacking you I'm giving you my opinion. I'm sure your a very decent person. If your religion permits I'd love to spend time with you over a few beers. There are many religions out there with various truths and lies. Yours is just one of them.

I don't believe in religion. For me there are no gods, no angels no demons. I feel that studying subjects that will lead to a decent position in this life which is the only life we have is much better than preparing yourself for a Nirvana that does not exist.

You're telling me what you believe and I'm telling you what I believe. I'm not attacking you at all.

I'm not reducing my rabid attack dog metaphor to you. Its a sociological dog that can't be reduced to individuals.

If I felt you were attacking me, you would be on my ignore list. :)

Limbo is another of those people who apparently comes here to talk to himself.

When a person comes in here and starts talking about his or her religion they need to learn to take their medicine. Limbo would have similar problems on most other forums. For instance a fundy style forum would condemn him the HAIL for not being a Christian as would a Muslim forum.

Limbo came in here talking about his religious accomplishments on a largely atheist forum. What did he expect?

Good luck to you Limbo. If your beliefs give you a measure of comfort and pleasure then more power to you but if you want a critism free response to your religious posts your in the wrong forum.

I don't want a criticism free response. I want a cynicism free, intolerance free, hostility free response that is based on the OP. In general, I mean. Not pointing a finger at you.

Well your using the wrong forum. Most of the people here are skeptics who demand evidence for religious claims. You should have known this before you came in here. Like I said.

Good luck to you.

Thanks! Do you want to talk about the nature of mystical interpretation? I think Jung might be a good place for us to start. There is a great little book called Man and his Symbols. Its written for the layperson and its simply fascinating. You won't look at religion the same way again, once you begin to understand symbolism from a mystics point of view.

What, you got something better to do?

Hey, I have been to turiya as well and got my hands on Jiyanmukta as well. Only, it's written Turija here and it's not said Jiyanmukta, but Kobasica (translation from native: sausage). It was really awesome! They even have annual festival of Kobasicijada. See here, on wiki:

Turija

Kobasicijada.

Having said that, you do realise that your post could be translated as: "It feels really awesome when I make my body do that. I feel like I'm on top of the world. That's what religious experience is, so there must be something more than this reality.", right?

Following that revelation of yours, I propose that sex and masturbation become tenets of some new religion as well. It would probably be more successful than any of the existing ones.

Yay, this is first time I've ever got there. I wonder what the experience will be like...

*5 minutes later*

Damn, sure is dark in here. And crowded. Do you ever clean this place up?

Going back to your OP, why do I need to be that type of mystic? I'd rather be a different type, a sort of expert if you like. My knowledge of different religions and especially Christianity already puts me deeply into esoteric category in my social circle.
It's deeply disturbing to realise you are one of the rare people that ever went into search of God and deeper meaning, took a good look at your religion and returned changed. It's even more disturbing when you realise people look at you from above because of that, because you dared to look for knowledge when pure blind faith was good enough for them. When you realise you are second rate citizen because you know more about their religion than themselves, when you rate real world more than imaginary ones.

And that my friend, is burden of atheism reached through knowledge and search for it.

A good first step would be creating a thread that makes just a little bit of sense. You've been asked for clarification on more than one occasion, and you typically respond by telling the questioner to go read some books. This is not productive discussion.

I'm really not sure what it is you're trying to accomplish with your threads. I get the funny feeling that you're not achieving your goal.

From http://www.dlshq.org/saints/jivanmukta.htm:
Balanced mind, equal vision, indifference to pairs of opposites like pleasure and pain, censure and praise, heat and cold, success and failure-these are the marks of a Jivanmukta.

For a guy who has achieved the ultimate in unflapability, Limbo sure gets into a flap easily when his beliefs are challenged in this forum.
