On Monday night's edition of "Hardball," host Chris Matthews talked about putting the birth certificate controversy surrounding President Obama to rest.

"Why has the president himself not demanded they put out the original documents?" Matthews wonders.

"If it exists, why not put it out?" Chris Matthews asks.

Chris Mathews? The guy who felt goose bumps on his legs when he heard the word Obama?

I demand to see Chris Matthews' original birth certificate. Until such a time as he produces the requested document, I stand firm in my accusation that MSNBC is illegally employing a non-U.S. citizen.

If you actually watch the clip, you would see that he is asking his guest "Why has the president himself not demanded they put out the original documents?" After he says that the he isn't a birther. He also partially answers his own question (as he usually does) by saying "hopefully the President has more important things to do."

I don't remember how long ago it is , bit there is a clip of him showing G. Gordon Liddy a copy of the Hawaii Birth Certificate without the redactions and Liddy still was grasping for reasons to doubt its authenticity.

A computer printout cannot be verified.

The LONG form has the name of the doctor, signatures, etc. and it CAN be verified.

Produce a one page document and the game is over.

No ifs, ands, or buts.

It is the form that is used to prove citizenship and to get a passport for anyone born in Hawaii.

Verified by whom? The existence of the original birth certificate has been personally verified by Hawaii state registrar Alvin Onaka. This apparently does not satisfy you, personally.

Tell us... if you had, in hand, the original birth certificate of Barack Hussein Obama, in what way could you, personally, verify its authenticity to your satisfaction when all other verifications have fallen short?

If the Pope said that Jesus is God and that he speaks with him, would you believe it?

Do you believe the Hawaii state registrar is more honest more than the Pope?

If 1,000 people claimed that they saw aliens from another planet, would you believe them?

Saying that you saw it, is a claim, showing it, is proof.

JREF AFAIK is about skepticism not cynicism.

All evidence indicates that Barack Obama was born in the state of Hawaii. There is no evidence to contradict this, and until such evidence is produced there is no reason to not believe he was born within the United States.

One sheet of paper was produced, it just doesn't measure up to your standards, which are apparently higher than the federal government's.

It would be awesome if, on Obama's last day in office, he comes on the air and announces:

"Hell yeah...I was a Kenyan Muslim all along...suckas!"

and then pops his collar, puts on his shades and strolls out of the White House.

This is not an answer to my question.

If you had, in hand, the original birth certificate of Barack Hussein Obama, in what way could you, personally, verify its authenticity to your satisfaction when all other verifications have fallen short?

Additionally, what is your reason for finding the process of verifying a candidate's eligibility for the Presidency lacking in the specific case of Barack Obama, but satisfactory in the case of all previous Presidential candidates?
