Bill Maher Punks Jon Stewart Rally

Not if the Hyperbole and Ad Hominem are based on facts.

I was just joking when I said you failed skeptics school. I didn't actually think that I needed to give you a lesson on the logic behind ad hominems. The very definition of an ad hominem always precludes it from being based upon facts. Calling people idiots isn't an ad hominem. Calling someone an idiot and that is the reason why they are wrong is.
I forgot to ask you: Who on MSNBC is openly advocating voter fraud?

Maybe you were engaging in hyperbole based on lies!
Nope. Ed Schultz said he would commit voter fraud if he could.
"I tell you what, if I lived in Massachusetts I'd try to vote 10 times," said Schultz on his Friday radio show. "I don't know if they'd let me or not, but I'd try to. Yeah, that's right. I'd cheat to keep these bastards out. I would. 'Cause that's exactly what they are."

Very true. My Bad. I take it back. Olbermann doesn't engage in hyperbole or ad hominem. :D

Got me on that on that one too. I like a lot of what he says, but he should know better than to say **** like that.

I don't watch enough of him to know if he engages in ad hominem. I do watch enough to know that he is a blowhard who at times almost takes his hyperbole to Glenn Beck levels.

You are mistaking satire for hyperbole. No-one on MSNBC comes anywhere near close to Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly (actually he seems kinda tame these days), or Rush Limbaugh (Okay, he's not on Fox, he is a network unto himself).

You are as clueless, or as in denial, as Joan Walsh, liberal editor-in-chief of Salon.com. She asked with a straight face, who is comparable to Limberger and Beck on the left, Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough could only make a not so cryptic reference to Olbermann. They are restricted from even mentioning his name as an example, just mention his name. Why? Does MSNBC actually believe their audience is unaware that Olbermann is a bookend to Limberger? Isn't that why he is their star trained seal?

Oh Please! Get a Grip and Step into the Light. That's like saying Obi Wan Kenobi is Equivalent to Darth Vader, or the Evil Emperor to Yoda. Sure, they all use light-sabers, but one is a force for good and the other a force for evil. One is pro-War, the other is anti-War, one is Pro-Greed, the other is Anti-Greed.

Again, Nearly all of those Talking heads on the right spew lies, hate, racism, death threats, POEZ/La Raza conspiracy theories (do you even WATCH Glenn Beck) etc.

You simply can't equate that kind of rhetoric, with the solid analysis that people like Olbermann and Maddow provide. The fact they use a sense of humour is a refreshing change from all the "liberal" taking heads (can't really remember ANY actually) from years past who were earnest. somber, bland, milquetoast, ready to turn their backsides to the Right and let them walk all over them.

I'm sorry if you think that the "leftie's" should just bring a pea shooter to a gun-fight (rhetorically speaking) but that ain't gonna happen any more.

Do you show up at Trek conventions as well?

How do you manage to call people “liars, haters, racists” without being at least one of those things yourself?

K.O.'s persona is the essence of milquetoast. K.O. even manages to undermines Maddow's "solid analysis." His take on his suspension includes playing a clip of Stewart making fun of MSNBC's policy. The policy that Maddow lauded.

Considering that MOM, i.e., Maddow,Olbermann & Matthews are not enamored with the 2nd Amendment, that gun-fight could only be theoretical. The only thing scary about the MSNBC crew is their appearance.

"MSNBC Is Like The Munsters. "Everyone else over there is ****in' nuts!" Jon Stewart

I think that there is false equivalence involved in the charge of false equivalence. Nowhere did I hear Jon say that the insanity was equal on both sides, in either numbers or position.

It was not about equivalence, it wasn't about whether your side has more whackjobs than mine, or that mine are better positioned.
It was about them being the too damn vocal minority.

It was about the fact that the reasonable are the majority but the unreasonable get all the airtime. Doesn't matter what percent belong to which side of the fence.

It was about the talking heads on both sides spending too much time on non-stories, rumors and celebrity gossip.

And George W. Bush never said Saddam Hussein was a 9/11 collaborator; he just constantly associated Iraq with the Sept. 11 attacks. Given the staging and the ********, the "false equivalence" charge is a fair one.

Actually yes! Why do you ask? ;)

Good Point! I HATE Liars, haters, and Racists.

First he's a Blowhard, Now he's a Milquetoast!?

Make up your mind.

You did read the part where a said RHETORICAL didn't you?

Though if the Right Wing "Second Amendment Solutions" Nuts ever start getting LITERAL, Not everyone on the Left is going to roll over and play dead.

As to Appearance, you're right, Olbermann and Maddow are Scary Good Looking compared Limbaugh, Beck, O'Reilly and Hannity. :D

As to Chris Matthews, and Ed Schulz, well, I'm in a generous mood, I'll give you half a point on them. ;)

Well, you just sounded as if you did. But do you recognize that the Star Trek original series had liberal and conservative elements and that the current movie has a conservative ideology?

Some of the writers of some of the episodes of the original series certainly wrote some episodes that reflected Cold War rhetoric.

However the series overall depicted a fairly "radical" vision of an Anarcho-Socialist economic system blended with a strong Federal Republic Political system (Earth united into a Global Republic--the ultimate nightmare for Right Wing conspiracy theorists. Glenn Beck's head would explode. Hannity would have kittens. And Limbaugh would have an Apoplectic Fit and be hauled away in a strait jacket. ;) ).

And many episodes were blatantly anti-war. Not to mention the first inter-racial kiss on TV (for which Nichelle Nichols-Uhura-received a positive phone call from MLK).

Numerous episodes referred to the fact that there was no longer poverty on Earth, and that Currency had been abolished on Earth (that's an Anarchist principle).

An episode I recall in particular--the Cloud Minders--was a blatantly Marxist analysis of Class Warfare.

Then there's that whole Save the Whales thing. ;)

And those skimpy outfits on the ladies, and the Green Chicks...Yowza! :D
Though despite some apparent sexism, the series was several steps forward from the Culturally Conservative values of the 50s. Hey man, it was the 60s...Free Love Yo!

Having seen the new movie numerous times I'm a bit at a loss.
In what way do you think it was "Conservative"?

(By the way, I don't necessarily conflate Conservatism with Right Wing--even though politically in the US and in a number of other countries they are functionally equivalent terms. It depends on the context. Example: my aesthetic tastes tend to be conservative much to the consternation of some of my "radical" friends).
