Not what I said at all. You said there was no reason to ever vote for a Democratic candidate. I merely pointed to a reason.

The rest of your temper tantrum is from you having to admit Repub candidates are not always better than Democratic candidates, not from anything I posted.
 
As for obama polling poorly. We will see. We know what groups did not come out in november, and you can be guaranteed they will come out in 2012.

Unless Obama takes a dramatic 180deg turn in attitude and action towards them in the next two years, one HUGE group probably won't be so enthusiastic to get out and vote for him in 2012: the GLBT community.

I am not sure how huge a voting BLOCK they are, though they are big, no doubt. By that, I mean I am not sure how COHESIVE they are as a voting UNIT. Seems to me the African American Community, EVEN the hispanic community might be larger and more cohesive, but you are right, if he does not get rid of DADT in next 2 years, he will suffer major support loss from that group.

As a member of the GLBT community, I have to respectfully disagree. This can also be affected by the actions of the Republicans. If the Reps use their majority to aggressively pursue an anti-gay agenda (something on the order of DOMA), I will gladly vote for Democratic apathy over Republican antipathy. I know its just the lesser of two evils, but how often do Americans vote based on that anyway.

It was purely a speculative opinion based on my observations (limited) so i am more then willing to concede that they are a very cohesive large voting block if you can show me....a difficult task. It is a difficult question, but for instance, empirically we know that as a voting block, African Americans voted over 90% uniformly for obama in 2008. What percentage of the GLBT community did?

no, I am not disagreeing, but I am stating that, just like any other group, we tend to react to negative stimuli more than positive. I am saying that active anti-gay behavior from the Reps is far more likely to cause us to coalesce into a unified voting bloc than anything the Dems can do

Was she the dimwit that said they looked Asian (or was that Whitman in CA)? I am having a hard time keeping track of these things.

Either way, I have lived in both states and neither is a prudent place for a politician to actively irritate Latino voters.

That's not what I said, why don't you go back and read what I wrote?

I said there is no reason for a fiscal or political conservative to vote Democrat, no matter how nice the Democratic candidate is.

They may not be better for you and me, but they are for Republicans. Again, it's not because you view them as a bad choice that everybody should feel the same way. People don't just switch sides because you want them to.

Believe me, I lost most of the elections and referendum I ever voted in (FYI, these are who I usually vote for). People will vote for who they want, that's democracy. You got a problem with that? If everybody should vote Democrat, then why don't we just get rid of the process altogether?

BC i am unsure of, but Quebec would never join anyway. They want to separate not because they dislike the rest of us, but rather, they just want to be on their own. For cripes sakes, our entire country became bilingual because of them. They have their own health care and judicial system, and they still want to leave. The usa would asimilate them like the borg...not gonna happen.

Ask Pardalis (a very sane quebecer, iirc) what he thinks.

Yeah, I once read on this board* that every mention of national defense in the constitution was followed by general welfare. Your post reminded me of this, so I went and took a look:

We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America

Section. 8.

The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;

It was far easier than I thought it would be.

So, based on these two mentions how is it that conservatives are so certain in federal powers for defense but so wary of federal powers for the general welfare? The constitution certainly doesn't appear to raise one above the other.

The ket words are these:

What's being addressed by Judicial as we speak is 'Does Congress have the power the force citizens to buy a product from private companies?'.

I'd like to have single payer, tax-funded.

She did not quit because it was too hard she quit because there was big money to be made and she did not want to wait. If Mccain had not chosen her and thrown her into the spotlight she would still be there.

I agree she is a quitter or an opportunistic person who will not finish what they started when something much better comes along.

That at least provides some small comfort, as most people would find it hard to justify leaving the office of President of the United States of America because 'a better opportunity' came along.
