Open Letter to Dave Thomas

You really ARE that stupid, start viewing this dog sniffing video at about three minutes. And just how much explosive material are you talking about? I give your ignorance three laughing sniffing dogs

:dl: :dl: :dl:

I watched this video. Not being stupid I don't understand it's relevance. Do you believe it refutes my statement that "Smell is the detection of air-borne molecules" or my statement that if an explosive charge is sealed in an air-tight container it can't be detected by explosive-sniffing dogs?

Sorry you lose. The _bomb sniffing_ dogs were abruptly removed 5 days before 9/11.

http://911research.wtc7.net/wtc/attack/preparation.html

Anyway what evidence is there that such dogs can detect shaped charges or thermitics?

BZZZZTTTTT!!! Sirius (RIP) might prove you wrong there sparky.

http://dogsinthenews.com/issues/0201/articles/020129a.htm

There was MORE dogs than normal, and the EXTRA dogs were there still.

Capt. Jim McGee of Haiku Kennels out of Ormand Beach Fl, who is one of the top EXPERTS in training dogs to detect explosives and accelerants, trained some of the dogs that were present.

You should click here.

in the video you claimed to have watched. Did the sniffing dog find the contraband in an airtight container in a huge warehouse? yes or no?

My mistake. I should have said linear thermite cutter charge like this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wn-MCCZ3O1M

So:

Nano-thermite paint and linear thermite cutter charges could certainly have been responsible for the WTC collapses.

Nice video. Did you happen to notice how large the device was relative to the steel it cut? How large would it have to have been to cut a column of the sizes used in the WTC buildings?

Oh, and do you happen to know what material was used to construct that device?

I wonder what does not burn up in fire? Too bad you don't do math and physics, you would stop making moronic statements about 911.

You proved with one video no thermite charges were used, and you have no clue why. Good for you, 9 years of delusions, no end in sight.

I didn't see that because it's impossible. It is _impossible_ for a dog to smell something inside an air-tight container. Either the container isn't air tight or the outside of the container has some residue of the contraband. For the latter, the dog found contraband on the outside of the container.

Nano-thermite paint on a steel column could warm the steel by a few degrees. Much less than the daily warming and cooling due to sunshine. Why? Because (nano)-thermite contains so precious little energy. In practice, you need about 2 parts thermite to melt 1 part steel. Doesn't matter much if nano or not nano.

Nano-thermite as explosive for shaped charges? Would give you the tell-tale
INSANELY LOUD BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG
that's necessary to cut a number of crucial columns. There weren't any such bangs.
...

Prove it or stop saying it.

Someone is not paying attention.
Someone is not communicating.
Someone doesn't read.
Someone has no arguments to support his claims.

cmatrix,

Feel free to admit that you were wrong.

I'll give you a hint. If it exploded, it's not air-tight anymore.

Gee good point. We know that tires never leak air.
I guess we better use your air tight container for tires then. Oops, my mustang is in storage, the air is still in the tires, how did that happen? You must buy leaking tires. If only you could do physics, you would not be spreading idiotic lies.

You have leaky tires, and you don't understand 911. How are your leak proof drug smuggling containers sealed?

Nothing in this world is "air-tight". Take the Titanic for example, they said it would never sink, but it did!

Nano thermit paint.

cmatrix, prove it.
  1. Calculate how much heat energy would be released by a Kg of nano-thermite paint. Round upward, if you want, just let us know where you are rounding up.
  2. calculate a reasonable density for your paint. I'll even allow you to ignore the density of the binder and just use the density of the nano-thermite itself.
  3. Propose a reasonable applied thickness of said paint. 5 mill, 20 mill, 200 mill, ten centimeters, whatever. your choice, just be prepared to justify your logic behind your choice.
  4. Calculate the weight of the nano-thermite paint per square centimeter base on the above two numbers.
  5. Calculate the maximum potential energy per square centimeter from the energy available from the nano-thermite reaction based on the weight of the nano-thermite per square inch as calculated above.
  6. based on known features of the WTC steel, come up with a range of potential steel thicknesses of the beams on which you claim that the nano-thermite paint was applied.
  7. using a standard density for steel translate those thicknesses into Kg of steel per square centimeter.
  8. assuming a 10 square centimeter area of steel, for each thickness, calculate the total weight of steel, and the energy required to heat that steel from 20 degrees C to 800 degrees C.
  9. Calculate the total energy available in a 10 square centimeter patch of nano-thermite paint. Compare the two. You can even assume total energy transfer form the pain to the steel.

Go ahead, I dare you. All of the information that you will require for the above is available on the internet. If not, you are free to make assumptions, just be sure to justify your assumptions.

Do the math!

You might have a chance to put your explosives in a high-tech air-tight container under lab conditions.

But you can't use them that way. You have to unpack them and apply them to your steel somehow.

Build a high tech, air tight, lab AROUND it! Der! :D

Nobody would notice. I swear.

Myths
Smugglers have long believed that substances such as coffee grounds, garlic, peanut butter, etc, will hide the scent of drugs from the canines. This is wrong. Barry uses the analogy of a pot of stew to demonstrate the ability of a dog to detect substances. When humans see a pot of stew they see carrots, potatoes, beef and onions, but we only smell stew. A dog has comparatively poor vision. They see a pot with varying contrast of grey but they smell the separate scents of each individual ingredient in the stew. They smell carrots, potatoes, etc.
Another myth is that air tight containers will defeat a dog's sensitive nose. Barry points out that all materials are permeable to some degree. The longer a substance sits in a container, the more likely its scent will permeate through the container. He uses the example of a dog picking up the scent of marijuana which was sealed in PVC tube and hidden in the gas tank of a vehicle. The dog cannot smell through steel, through gas and then through the PVC tube, but if the marijuana sits in that gas tank for long enough, the dogs will pick up the scent because small atoms of marijuana will eventually permeate through all of those barriers.

AW, good post, but can I just point out that marijuana ("small atoms") didn't appear on the periodic table when I was at secondary school. Is it a modern discovery, and shouldn't it be marijuantium or something like that?

Presumably it wouldn't be a volatile atom either....

Vacuum-sealing is easy, effective and leaves the contents quite useable and if necessary RF accessible.

But what happens after the reaction (explosion)? Your not claiming that the reaction is total and there's no residue? You did read that most rescue dogs are cross trained and were involved after the collapse?
